Teacher Y Bế Kuan (a teacher at Hung Vuong Secondary School, Hoa Son commune) is one of the pioneering educators in the movement for innovation in education in disadvantaged, mountainous, and ethnic minority areas.

After graduating with a degree in Mathematics and Physics Education in 2011, Mr. Y Bế Kuan began working at Cư Pui Secondary School (Cư Pui commune). In 2020, he transferred to Hùng Vương Secondary School (Hòa Sơn commune). Here, many students live with their grandparents because their parents work far away, leading to shyness, social anxiety, and passivity in their studies. The teachers have to work hard to encourage these students to attend school and put in a great deal of effort in each lesson.

Teacher Y Bế Kuan, a teacher at Hung Vuong Secondary School (Hoa Son commune), studies his lesson plan at home.

Teacher Y Bế Kuan frequently visits students' homes to inquire about their well-being and share life stories to inspire and motivate them in their studies. He also proactively applies artificial intelligence (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) to prepare lessons and design exercises; creates videos on spatial geometry to help students easily observe visually; and assigns homework through the Azota application to enhance self-study skills…

According to Huynh Viet Trung, Chairman of the Hoa Son Commune People's Committee, teacher Y Be Kuan's efforts in applying information technology to teaching have contributed to promoting innovation, creativity, and mastery of technology, gradually improving the quality of local education.

Each person comes to the teaching profession in a different way, but deep down, every teacher has a deep love and a burning desire to guide future generations to be healthy, loving, and intelligent.

Driven by a love for his profession and a determination to ensure no student is left behind, Mr. Le Quoc Thanh (teacher and head of the Youth Union at Xuan Quang 1 Primary School, Phu Mo commune) has strived to innovate the Youth Union's activities and children's movements, creating a healthy playground for students in disadvantaged areas.

Teacher Thanh expressed his concern: “Phu Mo commune is one of the most disadvantaged areas in the province. Students have limited access to subjects like Information Technology and English. Therefore, each teacher must double or triple their efforts to ensure that the students have sufficient knowledge, communication skills, and confidence in life. I have chosen to innovate the work of the Youth Union and children's movements to teach students soft skills, encourage confident communication, and teach them how to ask questions of their teachers… Notable examples include the 'Golden Bell' quiz, educational quizzes, the recruitment of Youth Union members at historical sites, and the 'Piggy Bank' movement to help friends go to school.”

According to Trinh Ngoc Vinh, Principal of Xuan Quang 1 Primary School, under the leadership of teacher Le Quoc Thanh, the learning atmosphere at the school has become increasingly vibrant and enthusiastic. The school has dedicated a room of about 50 m² as a traditional room and a place for students to participate in Youth Union activities, gradually improving the quality of learning through the "learning while playing" approach.

Ms. Pham Thi Hong, a teacher at Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School (Nam Ka commune), and her students.

Born into a disadvantaged family, teacher Pham Thi Hong (born in 1991), a teacher at Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School (Nam Ka commune), had a very difficult school life. Every day she had to go to school while helping her parents take care of her younger siblings and doing housework. To get textbooks, young Hong had to borrow books from older students.

Ms. Hong recalled: “At that time, my family was in a very difficult situation. My mother had been in a traffic accident, and my father had to work as a motorbike taxi driver every day to earn money to support my four sisters and me through school. When I learned that the Teacher Training program offered tuition-free education, I chose it without hesitation. In 2013, I graduated from the Faculty of Literature Education, Tay Nguyen University.”

In 2017, Ms. Hong was hired as a contract teacher at Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School. To succeed in her teaching career, she received support from many people, including former teachers. She also consistently worked with parents and local authorities to encourage students to attend school; and sought sponsors to provide clothing, bicycles, and scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Following in Ms. Hong's footsteps, Vu Thi Sanh (from Plao Sieng hamlet, Nam Ka commune) overcame all obstacles to become the first Mong ethnic minority (from the group of migrants from the North who settled in Nam Ka commune) to be admitted to university. Sanh shared: "If it weren't for Ms. Hong, I probably would have dropped out of school to get married in the 9th grade. I will always remember her advice and continue my studies to become a teacher so I can return and teach literacy to the children in the remote Nam Ka area."
