Binh Tan district is the locality with the largest sweet potato growing area in the province. In addition to harvesting tubers, people also actively grow sweet potatoes to sell the shoots as vegetables. This model currently brings in quite a high income.
Accordingly, people in the district have taken advantage of the newly renovated orchards or raised beds to grow clean sweet potato leaves, both to serve the daily needs of the family and to sell for extra income. Currently, depending on the time, the price of sweet potato leaves sold by growers to traders ranges from 5,000-7,000 VND/kg, with an average area of 1,000m2 yielding about 500kg per harvest.
This is an easy-to-grow, easy-to-care-for vegetable and can be harvested about 15 days after planting. Each harvest is 10-15 days apart and can be harvested year-round, thus bringing in a fairly high income for growers.
