From noon to afternoon of June 11, the tropical depression will strengthen into storm No. 1.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that around noon to the afternoon of June 11, the tropical depression in the East Sea will strengthen into storm No. 1 - the first storm in 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of the Weather Forecast Department, said that although this is the second tropical depression to appear in the East Sea since the beginning of the year, it will be the first storm to form in the Northwest Pacific region this year.

The storm is expected to move north, towards Hainan Island (China). However, the circulation of the tropical depression – then the storm – will cause widespread heavy rain from the Central region to the Central Highlands, and at the same time cause dangerous weather in the North and Central East Sea.

“From Quang Tri to Quang Ngai , all areas are affected by low pressure circulation, followed by storms,” said Mr. Huong.
