Colleagues quickly took Mr. L. to Cu Chi District General Hospital for emergency treatment. There, Mr. L. fell into a coma and had respiratory arrest. After successful resuscitation, the patient's heartbeat returned, and doctors at Cu Chi District General Hospital quickly raised the inter-hospital red alert and transferred the patient to Xuyen A General Hospital.
As soon as receiving the alarm from Cu Chi District General Hospital, the team of doctors from the Cardiovascular Intervention Department and the Emergency Department, Xuyen A General Hospital planned to quickly receive the patient and promptly intervene.
The patient was immediately transferred to the cathlab for coronary angiography and intervention. The results showed that Mr. L. had an acute right ventricular ST elevation myocardial infarction at 6 hours, with complications of respiratory arrest and was successfully resuscitated.

On May 24, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Tri, Department of Cardiovascular Intervention, said that while performing coronary artery angiography and intervention, he realized that this was a special condition because the angiography results showed that the patient had many blood clots in the coronary arteries, so the intervention team performed blood clot aspiration, then placed 3 stents in the right coronary artery, successfully recanalizing the blood vessels.
However, patient L. still had to face many problems with multiple organ damage, especially brain damage after cardiorespiratory arrest. Therefore, after successfully placing a stent to restore blood flow to the heart, the team coordinated with doctors from the Intensive Care Unit to control body temperature to protect the patient's brain cells.
After a near-death experience, patient L.'s health has now fully recovered after 10 days of active monitoring and care by doctors. Currently, the patient is completely conscious, eating, walking and returning to normal activities.
Heart attack can happen at any time.
Doctor Tri said that myocardial infarction can happen at any time, at any age, especially in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, long-term smokers...
The most important thing when seeing someone having a heart attack is to call an ambulance to take the patient to the hospital quickly, because the sooner the golden time for treatment, the more vital it is to help increase the patient's chance of survival and reduce sequelae.
"To avoid the risk of myocardial infarction, people should maintain a healthy lifestyle, exercise regularly, limit alcohol and stimulants that are harmful to health. Most importantly, people need to have regular health check-ups 1-2 times a year to detect risk factors early and have effective disease prevention solutions," Dr. Tri recommended.
