Received and repatriated 21 remains for burial

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the morning of May 23, in Sam Neua town, Hua Phan province (Lao People's Democratic Republic), the Party Committee, government, armed forces, ethnic people of Hua Phan province and the Steering Committee 515 of Thanh Hoa province solemnly held a handover ceremony and received the remains of 21 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died on the Lao battlefield during the wars, bringing them back to the country for burial.

These are the remains that the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command's Collection Team surveyed, searched for and collected in districts and towns of Hua Phan province in the dry season of 2024-2025.

Previously, on the evening of May 22, the Special Working Group of Hua Phan province and the Steering Committee 515 of Thanh Hoa province, Vietnamese citizens living, studying and working in Hua Phan province, together with local people, held a memorial service to express their respect and gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their blood and bones for the independence and freedom of the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

According to the plan, 21 martyrs' remains will be brought back to the country to collect biological samples to find relatives and be buried at Dong Tam International Martyrs Cemetery, Ba Thuoc district on May 27, 2025.
