Descendants with academic achievements receive awards at the Vu Dinh family's ancestral temple.

The Vu Dinh clan has 121 households, scattered from North to South, of which 75 households are concentrated in Quang Thach commune, with 302 people. They have promoted the tradition of studiousness for many generations, notably Mr. Vu Duong, often called Teacher Tien by the villagers. He opened a class to teach Chinese characters to descendants in the clan and people in the area. Although teaching according to feudal etiquette, "loyalty to the king and patriotism", his students all became outstanding people, actively participating in revolutionary activities through the periods.

In 1995, Quang Thach commune organized the first congress of representatives for education promotion, affirming the importance of education. The Vu Dinh clan actively participated in the commune's education promotion association and elected prestigious people in the clan to undertake education promotion work. At that time, due to economic difficulties, the focus was only on encouraging and motivating children to study well and preventing school dropouts. In 2005, on the occasion of the clan's ancestor's death anniversary (on the 15th day of the 2nd lunar month), children and grandchildren working from all over came to the clan's temple to celebrate. The board of directors realized the need to build a clan cultural fund to be used for visiting the sick, mourning the deceased and especially serving science and technology work. This initiative received high consensus from the children and grandchildren in the clan. Each family contributed according to their ability, with a minimum of 200,000 VND/household; initially, the fund was built to 9.6 million VND. Since then, the family's science and technology fund has always maintained around 120 million VND.

Every year, on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, the clan's management board informs families and students who have achieved achievements in the school year (with certificates of merit from the school, certificates of achievement at all levels, notices of admission to universities, colleges, vocational schools) to gather at the clan's temple to offer incense, report on their children's academic achievements and award prizes. In addition to receiving prizes from the Vu Dinh clan, descendants also receive prizes from the Vu Vo clan of Vietnam, Vu Vo of Thanh Hoa province and Vu Vo of Quang Xuong district.

According to Mr. Vu Dinh Tri, representative of the family's executive board, at the ceremony to commend and award science and technology prizes, the elders and the executive board of the Vu Dinh family took the shining examples of successful and talented people of previous generations to teach their descendants to uphold the spirit of studiousness, strictly follow the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws. They hoped that the younger generations would make more efforts in studying, practicing, and promoting the family's tradition of studiousness.

To ensure discipline in science and technology work, the executive committee, which is also in charge of education promotion, always reminds families to pay attention to their children's studies, manage their study hours at home; maintain contact with the school to grasp information and the children's study situation... Therefore, 100% of families remind their children to sit at the study table, "study corner" when it is time to study; proactively turn down the volume of speakers and televisions, and create a quiet space for their children to concentrate on studying. Currently, the number of families in the clan registering for family study is 93.3%, all children of school age are able to go to school, there are no students dropping out of school, violating school rules and regulations, or violating the law. The vast majority of children in the clan are good children, good students, and diligent in studying.

During 31 years of implementing scientific and technological work, the Vu Dinh family has honored and awarded many descendants with achievements in studying. The number of descendants who have passed, become famous, and have academic titles and degrees is the pride of the family. Currently, the family has 1 professor, 3 doctors who are lecturers at domestic universities, 1 person is working in Switzerland. Many families have 3 to 4 children who are bachelors, such as the families of Mr. Vu Dinh Thich, who has 3 children with university degrees, including 1 professor and doctor; Vu Dinh Luan, who has 4 children with university degrees, including 2 doctors; Vu Dinh Doan, who has 2 children with university degrees, including 1 doctor; Vu Dinh Trang, who has 4 children with university degrees; Vu Dinh Phu, who has 4 children and grandchildren in university, 1 grandchild won a national prize in History...

The effective implementation of science and technology work not only contributes to increasing solidarity among family members but also creates conditions for families to build a cultural lifestyle; actively participate in the movements "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", "Building a new model rural area" and other movements launched by the locality. Thereby, the economic life of households is increasingly developing, increasing the number of well-off and rich households, reducing the number of households with normal income, and there are no more near-poor households in the family.
