“China has not issued any laws, regulations or policy documents banning the purchase and use of foreign brand phones like Apple,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said at a regular press conference.

“But recently we have seen a lot of media coverage of security incidents involving Apple phones. The Chinese government takes information and cybersecurity very seriously and treats both domestic and foreign companies equally,” she added.
China has expanded restrictions on government employees' use of iPhones, requiring employees at some state agencies to stop using Apple mobile phones at work, several sources have said.
The move signals growing challenges for Apple, which relies heavily on China for revenue growth and production.
China hopes all mobile phone companies will strictly abide by the country's laws and regulations, and "strengthen information security management," the spokesman said.
China has increasingly emphasized the use of domestically produced technology products, as technology has become a major national security issue for Beijing and Washington.
