Central Committee of Vietnam Farmers' Union works with Provincial Farmers' Union

This afternoon, April 24, a working delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union led by Vice President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Dinh Khac Dinh worked with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Farmers' Union on the situation of work and farmers' movement in Quang Tri province in 2023 and the first quarter of 2024, and key tasks in 2024. In 2023 and the first quarter of 2024, many policies and investment policies for agricultural , farmer and rural development have been implemented.

The agricultural production situation was quite comprehensive; productivity and output of all crops increased sharply compared to the previous year, with an estimated growth rate of over 4%; total grain output was estimated at 306,000 tons, the highest ever, surpassing the 300,000-ton threshold for the first time.

Perennial crop production has developed steadily; livestock farming continues to recover, and diseases are under control. The Provincial Farmers' Association focuses on innovation, improving the quality and effectiveness of the movement of farmers competing in production and good business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty. Through evaluation, 27,482 households have achieved good production and business at all levels; built over 96 typical models of safe crop, livestock and aquaculture farming according to VietGAP standards; actively supported and guided members to participate in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, currently 119 products have been certified as OCOP products at the provincial level.

The planning, training, fostering and use of association officials are focused on, especially young, female and ethnic minority officials; the quality of officials is improved. Associations at all levels continue to expand the target group for membership development, to date, the total number of members in the province is 88,587.

Speaking at the working session, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang emphasized: In recent times, the province has always paid attention to directing the Provincial Farmers' Association to effectively organize the work of building a strong association and farmers' movement; always accompanying and actively supporting farmers to promote economic development, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, including many important supports in developing key crops and animals, promoting production linkages associated with product consumption, building product brands and trademarks associated with product promotion as well as accessing preferential loans, performing well in consulting and supporting services for farmers in terms of capital, transferring science and technology, agricultural materials, and consuming agricultural products for farmers; at the same time, grasping the thoughts and aspirations of farmers to remove difficulties and obstacles, and providing timely support.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council hopes that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union will continue to pay attention to directing and suggesting good and effective ways for the Provincial Farmers' Union to build more effective economic development models; support training and professional skills development for the association's staff and consulting, vocational training, services and support activities for farmers; build and expand cooperatives, cooperative groups, professional farmer associations, professional farmer associations; support models for developing production linked to the value chain.

Vice President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Dinh Khac Dinh suggested that the Provincial Farmers' Union continue to closely follow the key tasks set out by the Central Vietnam Farmers' Union, thereby developing an implementation plan based on the actual situation in the locality. Strengthen coordination with the Provincial Ethnic Committee and related sectors and units in implementing the socio-economic development program for ethnic minority and mountainous areas, in which it is necessary to pay attention to actively supporting ethnic minorities in developing plants and animals according to the development orientation of the province, providing guidance on science and technology, experience, product output, building and replicating effective economic models.

Vice President of Vietnam Farmers' Union Dinh Khac Dinh acknowledged the opinions, recommendations and proposals to synthesize and provide support and remove difficulties.
