Ho Chi Minh City Open University awards scholarships worth over 50 billion VND to new students

On October 14, Ho Chi Minh City Open University held a formal university opening ceremony and a program to welcome 5,600 new students for the 2025-2026 school year.

Speaking at the event, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, said: With a multi-disciplinary and multi-level training system, in the 2025-2026 school year, the school will train 51 bachelor's degree programs; 12 master's degree programs; 8 doctoral degree programs in all three fields of economics , engineering and social sciences.

The current training scale is more than 40,000 undergraduate students, nearly 1,190 graduate students and 154 researchers. The rate of students having jobs within 12 months after graduation is more than 95%, of which the rate of jobs that are right and related to the training industry accounts for nearly 83%.

Talking to new students, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha said that in the era of technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation developing rapidly every day, new students should foster the spirit of lifelong learning, proactively update and adapt to new things, consider knowledge as luggage, technology as a tool to master the future, become brave, creative and pioneering young citizens in the new era.

At the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City Open University honored and awarded certificates of merit and scholarships to nearly 500 new students with outstanding achievements, with a total value of more than 50 billion VND.

The top student in the entire school (based on high school graduation exam scores) will be awarded a scholarship of 200% of the first year's tuition and 100% of the tuition for the following years.
