The Institute for Socio -Economic Research under the University of Saigon was officially launched today (January 3). The Institute is responsible for researching socio-economics, data science and artificial intelligence.
Saigon University established the Institute of Socio-Economic Research on the basis of reorganizing the Institute of Environmental Technology and Energy, while adding functions and tasks of socio-economic research, data science and artificial intelligence.
The Institute is a scientific and technological organization, with legal status, its own seal, and operates under a financial autonomy mechanism. The structure includes the director and two deputy directors, a scientific council, and other supporting departments.
Dr. Le Chi Lan - Vice President of Saigon University - is the Director. The Scientific Council is chaired by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Economic Committee (2021-2022 period), Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee (2014-2021 period).
Other council members are prominent figures in highereducation such as: Prof. Dr. Mai Hong Quy - former principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law; Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai - former vice principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics; Assoc. Prof. Pham Hoang Quan - Principal of Saigon University...
“The school has discussed many times and realized the need for a socio-economic research center with a specialized mission of conducting research, providing strategic advice, training skills and transferring scientific knowledge. Therefore, the Institute was established from the social need for scientific research activities and multi-disciplinary application of science and technology.
On the other hand, the school has the potential of a team of good researchers and, together with the cooperation with agencies and institutes, will actively contribute to making the school a research university" - Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Hoang Quan said.
