Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung congratulated the teachers and students of the academy, and hoped that the academy would achieve many successes, making an important contribution to the development of the AI field in Vietnam.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also emphasized that the academy's training program needs to be continuously updated, closely following the international situation and AI teaching programs of universities around the world .

"AI is new to all countries, Vietnam is not a follower, so there is no reason for the academy to follow. Along with that, the academy must actively cooperate with domestic and international AI enterprises. Training AI human resources must combine university, graduate, doctoral training and retraining. Electronics, telecommunications, and information technology engineers can reskill to become AI engineers, to quickly meet the demand for AI human resources in the short term" - the minister said.
For the AI students of the academy, the minister said that the students can be proud, and need to be proud to be the first AI students in Vietnam. "You are the pioneering generation of a pioneering field. Take advantage of every opportunity to learn. Pioneers will have no limits, no limitations, because there is no definition yet" - the minister advised.
According to Mr. Hung, AI is to serve human prosperity and happiness. However, it must ensure transparency, fairness and non-discrimination, respect for ethical values, human rights, privacy protection, inclusive access, security and confidentiality, control, risk-based management, responsible innovation and encourage international cooperation.
Also at the ceremony, Professor Tu Minh Phuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, said that the establishment of the AI Faculty is not only a place to train leading experts in the field of AI, but also a center for research and development of the most advanced technological solutions, meeting the urgent needs of society with the continuously increasing demand for human resources in the AI industry.
"The Academy strives to become the number 1 AI training unit in the country in terms of research and training quality. At the same time, it strives to be in the top 400-450 universities in the world in AI research by 2025-2035," said Professor Phuong.
At the same time, Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong also said that the Academy will promote the activities of AI-specialized research labs towards excellence and quality of scientific publications according to international standards; expand cooperation with strong AI research groups in the world while continuing to support and cooperate in developing AI products with large technology corporations.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Cuong, Head of the AI Department, said that the AI training program of the academy is built according to international standards with two main areas: Machine Learning and Applied AI based on the training programs of some universities such as Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University.
The program also includes a semester of internship at leading domestic and foreign AI enterprises. Students studying AI at the academy are also led by experienced visiting experts from major universities around the world such as: Stanford, MIT, Deakin, UC David, JAIST, KAIST... and major technology companies such as NVIDIA, Intel, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, VinAI, FPT, Samsung, NAVER...
