Dr. Pham Sy Cuong, Principal of Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School, said that this is the last school to organize the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi , so the exam will have many different emotions. Some students have passed or are sure of their place at other schools, so they go to the exam with a relaxed mentality. On the contrary, there are students who have to "fight for this last battle because they are not really safe anywhere", so entering the exam will be more stressful.
“The school has informed the invigilators about this issue to monitor the exam room, ensure that students take the test seriously, and at the same time not cause stress or pressure on them. This is the school’s final high school exam, so preparations have been going quite smoothly,” said Mr. Cuong.
The new point of the school's admission this year is to eliminate direct admission and the consideration of the Department of Education and Training's exam scores to be fairer for candidates. Thus, this school year, the school will only recruit students by one method: direct admission in 3 subjects: Literature, Math, and English.
In the morning exam, candidates will take the Literature exam (120 minutes), in the afternoon they will take the Math exam (90 minutes) and English exam (60 minutes).
The test content is mainly in the 9th grade program, part of the 2018 generaleducation program. In particular, the Literature subject is an essay test, including 2 parts: reading comprehension and writing; the Math and English subjects are multiple choice tests combined with essay tests.
Admission score is the total score of three subjects, no subject has coefficient, no bonus points added.
Previously, to be eligible to take the exam, candidates had to ensure that they had achieved a good level of academic achievement and a good level of training in all four years of secondary school. Along with that, they had to achieve an average score of 6.5 points for the entire 9th grade year in the three subjects of Literature, Math, and English. With an enrollment target of 440 students, this year's competition ratio was 1/10.
Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School is an autonomous public school under Hanoi National University of Education, one of the hottest schools in the capital. This year, the school plans to announce the admission scores on June 26, and students will enroll on June 30.
