In recent times, along with the trend of branding for cities around the world as well as in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City has made great efforts in building a creative city brand in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. However, building a brand in 7 areas (including crafts and folk arts, design, cinema, cuisine, literature, media arts and music ) is a difficult problem to solve.

Media arts field is an advantage.

Identified as part of a larger economic development strategy that prioritizes digital transformation and cultural tourism, cultural industries are expected by Ho Chi Minh City to contribute 5.7% to GDP by 2025 and 7.2% by 2030; create more jobs, and position the city as a cultural center of Vietnam and the region by 2025 and a cultural industry center of Southeast Asia by 2030.

Unlike music or cinema, which are constrained by traditional means and forms of expression, media arts opens up a borderless creative space that can include both music and cinema, thereby helping the city, if choosing this field, to still be able to promote brand value for both cinema and music.

From video art, digital music, digital media, virtual reality, to interactive multimedia projects, Ho Chi Minh City will not only be a place to preserve heritage but also a convergence point of pioneering art trends. Here, people will be immersed in technological art experiences, where the audience is not only a viewer but also a co-creator, directly participating in the emotional journey of each work of art.

It is the flexibility and interactivity of media arts that will help Ho Chi Minh City overcome the boundaries of time and space, connecting with the world quickly and deeply.

While music and cinema may be limited by local language or culture, media arts speak a global language, easily accessible to all audiences, from all countries. This is how Ho Chi Minh City can reach out to the world, affirming its position as a leading creative city, where culture and technology blend, creating new and innovative values.

The city has set a goal in the Project "Developing Ho Chi Minh City's cultural industry by 2030" to strive to become a creative city in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Nowadays, the city is tending to choose cinema, music or another option.

This is very important because when a field is chosen appropriately, correctly, and accurately, it will not only be the main, comprehensive, and leading direction for the development of cultural and creative industries, but also for the city's socio-economy.

Not only does it express identity, media arts also help Ho Chi Minh City promote the digital economy and creative industries. From app development, video game production, to digital advertising campaigns, the city has the potential to become a creative technology hub not only in Vietnam but also in the region. The young and dynamic start-up waves here will have more opportunities to develop, contributing to building a modern and sustainable cultural economy.

When Ho Chi Minh City chooses media arts, the city is not just entering a field of art, but entering a limitless future. This place will become a symbol of the convergence of culture, technology, and creativity, where traditional values are honored through the most modern art forms. And from here, Ho Chi Minh City will reach out, bringing Vietnamese cultural identity to the world, while welcoming new creative winds from everywhere.
