The article “Vietnam chooses flexible approach to US tariff policy” emphasized Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s direction at the Government meeting on April 7: It is necessary to choose the most effective solution, balance the interests of both sides, maintain independence, sovereignty and national position. Prensa Latina also quoted Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirming that although exports are an important growth driver that needs to be promoted, they are not the only driver.

In the article, Prensa Latina's Hanoi correspondent Moisés Pérez Mok highlighted Vietnam's stance of strengthening dialogue and negotiation, not confrontation, not causing tension, not complicating the issue. According to this veteran journalist, the Vietnamese business community positively appreciated the Government's quick response to support the bloc in coping with US President Donald Trump's decision that shocked the international market.

Journalist Moisés Pérez Mok said that the Vietnamese Government and business community have implemented a series of measures to minimize the impact. In the article “Businesses assess the Vietnamese Government’s response to import taxes from the US” on April 9, Prensa Latina quoted Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association - as saying that it is necessary to focus on negotiations to achieve the most favorable conditions.

According to the Latin American news agency, many other Vietnamese industry associations also believe that the US is a key market, requiring a comprehensive assessment of the impact of the new tax rate. The government, ministries and localities need to have separate solutions for each affected sector. In addition, businesses must proactively seek new export markets, develop the domestic market, and consider this an opportunity to restructure and improve Vietnam's global trade position.
