Glorious history

Turning the pages of the Party History of Nhon Hung Commune, one can feel the heroic spirit of the land. Although located in the remote southwestern border of the Fatherland, Nhon Hung still has a special mark associated with Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac (Uncle Ho's father). During the period of 1920 - 1925, he went to Hoa Thanh Pagoda (Cay Mit Pagoda) to get medicine to treat diseases, and at the same time,educate the people about patriotism. This was the driving force that created a passionate tradition of patriotism for many generations of Nhon Hung people.

Currently, Nhon Hung has many historical and revolutionary relics and architectural works that have been ranked, such as: Hoa Thanh Pagoda, Secret Tunnel of Tinh Bien District Party Committee Office, Steel Post. In addition, each road and each garden here more or less records the footprints of many generations of patriots who fought, sacrificed, and built the land. In July 1930, Nhon Hung was the place where the Nhon Hung - Thoi Son Party Cell was formed to lead the people in the fight against the French. The names Tam Vien, Nguyen Thi Doi, Sau Thau, Bay Ro... became the core force, leading the people in the fight against the terror, sweeps, and exploitation of the French colonialists and their henchmen.

After a heroic and arduous struggle, the Nhon Hung Commune Party Cell led the people to rise up and seize power on August 28, 1945, contributing to the completion of the great August Revolution of 1945 with the whole country. During the resistance war against French colonialism, the army and people of Nhon Hung also achieved many feats, typically: the Nhon Hung guerrilla battle in coordination with Tran Thang's troops to transport Co Lua soldiers from Chau Doc to Nha Bang (January 1947); the attack on Vinh Trung station (September 1949); participating in the Long Chau Hau campaign of the Southern Command (September 1950)...

The roads of Nhon Hung today

During the anti-American period, the revolutionary forces in Nhon Hung led the people to carry out the "People's Guerrilla War Movement", causing many difficulties for the enemy. Typically, they ambushed and attacked the enemy's raids on Tay Hung and Dai mountain bases; surrounded and called on the enemy at Cay Trom post to surrender (in 1965). Many other large and small battles affirmed the heroic fighting spirit of the revolutionary forces and the people of Nhon Hung commune, together towards the day of total victory, the country reunited.

During the war to protect the southwestern border, Nhon Hung was the only locality in Bay Nui district that was not occupied by the enemy. After 72 large and small battles from 1975 to 1979, the "steel post" Nhon Hung was still firmly held on the banks of Vinh Te canal, forever becoming a heroic history page for the younger generation to follow. That is the motivation for the Party Committee, government and people of Nhon Hung today to continue striving to build their homeland.

Nhon Hung today

Now, Nhon Hung commune has become Nhon Hung ward. The smooth asphalt roads come from the voluntary donation of land and trees by the people. The spacious schools and the improved lives of the people demonstrate the spirit of striving to improve of the Party Committee, government, sectors, organizations and local people through the periods.

In 2024, Nhon Hung ward has 19/22 socio -economic development targets reaching 100% or more of the resolution. In particular, the average income per capita reaches 68.1 million VND/year; 100% of households use electricity meters and water meters; 100% of students go to school at the right age. Nhon Hung also achieved many positive results in the fields of: Agriculture, transportation - irrigation, social security, policies for people with meritorious services... In building a ward that meets civilized urban standards, the locality achieved 4/9 criteria, 28/52 targets.

The above results come from the efforts to inherit and promote the heroic tradition of the local political system, aiming to build the land that was once plowed by bombs and bullets into a prosperous border ward, meeting the expectations of all classes of people. Promoting the achieved results, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Nhon Hung Ward continue to promote socio-economic development, build the ward to meet civilized urban standards; well implement social security policies, improve the material and spiritual life of the people; maintain political stability, national defense - security and social order and safety. In particular, actively propagate, mobilize, create deep consensus among the people in implementing the policies of the Party, State and locality.

Besides the process of building the homeland, the children of Nhon Hung today still do not forget the sacrifices of many previous generations. On holidays, Tet, especially the anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day every year, the young generation makes a journey to the "red address" to revisit Nhon Hung Steel Post, the Secret Tunnel of the Tinh Bien District Party Committee Office... to forever remember the heroic tradition of this land, continuing to strive to contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today.

With a tradition of steadfast and indomitable struggle, Nhon Hung has 3 units awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, including: Commune Militia and Guerrilla (December 20, 1979), Commune People's Public Security Department (August 13, 1980), People and Commune People's Armed Forces (November 3, 2004). These are milestones in the development journey, a source of pride for the people in the cause of building and developing their homeland.
