At Binh Thuy Square (Binh Thuy Ward), the screening of the film "Red Rain" attracted many veteran soldiers. These soldiers, who had experienced the brutality of war, watched "Red Rain" as if reliving their youthful, heroic years. Young people were moved to tears by the poignant scenes, as history was told through cinema.
At Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Can Tho University, there were many film screenings, and every screening was packed with students. Notably, on this occasion, the two universities also collaborated to launch a fundraising campaign to support people in Central Vietnam affected by the 2025 storms and floods, raising a considerable amount of money. Watching a film about the glorious wartime history of our ancestors, and sharing in the suffering of those affected by the storms and floods, naturally made everyone feel more responsible for their homeland.
"Red Rain" is a feature film about the revolutionary war, written by author Chu Lai, inspired by and fictionalized from the 81 days and nights of heroic and tenacious fighting by the people and soldiers defending the Quang Tri Citadel in 1972. Squad 1, composed of young and enthusiastic men, was one of the units that fought and held their ground in this fierce battle. The film is a visual epic, a tribute and remembrance of those who dedicated their youth to the country, carrying the resonance of patriotism, sacred camaraderie, and the aspiration for peace through the masterful direction of director Dang Thai Huyen.
The success and widespread impact of the film "Red Rain" reveal the immense power of art. A good, meaningful film can touch millions of hearts, across generations, awaken national pride, and cultivate beautiful ideals in each person. Artists, therefore, have a great responsibility to spread this humane and positive energy.
