1. Current status of tropical depression:

This afternoon (September 24), the low pressure area in the sea southeast of Hoang Sa archipelago strengthened into a tropical depression.

At 1 p.m., the center of the tropical depression was at about 15.1 degrees North latitude; 112.8 degrees East longitude, about 200km southeast of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6 (39-49km/h), gusting to level 8. Moving west at a speed of 10km/h.

3. Storm development warning (from next 48 to 60 hours)

From the next 48 to 60 hours, the tropical depression continued to move in the West-Northwest direction, traveling about 10-15km per hour and weakened into a low pressure area over the Southern Laos region.

4. Forecasting the impact of natural disasters

The southwestern sea area of the North East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago), the northwestern sea area of the Central East Sea area has heavy rain and thunderstorms, strong winds of level 6, then increasing to level 7, gusting to level 9, rough seas.

From the afternoon of September 25, the sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai gradually increased in strength to level 6-7, gusting to level 9, with rough seas.

The southwestern sea area of the North East Sea (including the sea area of the Hoang Sa archipelago) and the northwestern sea area of the Central East Sea area, waves are 2.0 - 4.0m high.

It is forecasted that from September 25 to the end of September 28, in the North Central region in general and Nghe An in particular, there will be a period of moderate rain, heavy rain to very heavy rain. Rainfall in Nghe An province is likely to reach: in mountainous areas: 70 - 150 mm, in some places over 200 mm; in the midlands and coastal plains: 150 - 300 mm, in some places over 350 mm.
