Jogging is a sport that is close, familiar and anyone can do it. Jogging is currently spreading to many people, many localities, businesses, becoming a movement, a habit of many classes.
During a business trip, Mr. Luu Anh Tuan (29 years old, living in Me Linh district) saw many places with running clubs. Participating in these clubs, Mr. Tuan saw that these clubs had the power to spread to the community as well as improve the health of their members. From there, he had the idea of going to the locality to establish a running club.
Mr. Luu Tuan Anh, Chairman of Me Linh Runners Club
On July 10, 2023, Mr. Tuan founded the Me Linh Runners Club. Initially, the club had only 6 members, but only half a year later, it attracted more than 300 members, including 100 official members who regularly participate in running on activity days.
"The club's members come from many different backgrounds, including many office workers. People often jog at 5:00 or 17:30 after work. The Me Linh Runners Club organizes supplementary training sessions for members every Thursday to help them improve their health and be able to run long distances; every Sunday, the club organizes long distance runs with a distance of 15 - 20 km," said Mr. Tuan.
In 6 months, Me Linh Runner Club has attracted more than 300 participants.
Although it is a mass sports club, each training session, Me Linh Runners has a professional coach to guide members in warming up, practicing, and avoiding injuries while running.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trong (40 years old, living in Me Linh district), coach of Me Linh Runners Club, said that he has been running since 7th grade and trained at Vinh Phuc province sports club for 2 years, but then retired.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Trong started running again to tighten his discipline, from daily activities, eating, and sleeping.
Mr. Trong guides everyone to warm up and exercise.
As the club's coach, Mr. Trong guides everyone on how to eat and drink to ensure physical strength and how to live a healthy life. In each training session, Mr. Trong guides everyone on how to warm up and correct posture to avoid injuries while running.
"The club has many ages and classes, so it was quite difficult to guide everyone at first. Each person has their own thoughts and lifestyle. Many people were out of breath when they first started, but the members have all improved, have a positive lifestyle and are in good health," said Mr. Trong.
From an office worker who could barely walk 500 meters, Ms. Thao can now run 20 km and participate in many running races with the club.
As an office worker, before she was tired just walking about 500m, but after being invited by a friend and joining the Me Linh Runner Club for 2 months, Ms. Le Thi Thao was able to run dozens of kilometers.
"Because I am an office worker, working 8 hours a day and then coming home to take care of my husband and children, my body is weak and obese due to age; when I joined the club, I felt healthy and flexible. Before, I felt tired after walking about 500 - 1,000 m, but after 2 months of training and discipline, I was able to run 20 km," said Ms. Thao. She and the club members participated in 3 races in Long Bien ( Hanoi ), Cat Ba (Hai Phong), Trang An (Ninh Binh), and will soon participate in the Hung Temple race held next April in Phu Tho.
Mr. Tuan expressed his hope that the Club will develop further, attract more members and spread to communes in the area, as well as exchange with many other clubs to organize running competitions for members inside and outside the Club to exchange, overcome limits, and improve their health.
