On the evening of October 5, more than 3,000 audiences at the National Convention Center had a true musical feast when they directly immersed themselves in the soulful yet vibrant melodies of Bond Live In Vietnam.

FLY THOUSANDS OF MILES TO HANOI TO WATCH BOND LIVE IN VIETNAM

Arriving very early when Bond Live In Vietnam had not yet started, Mr. Tai Yang Chen (35 years old, from Taiwan, China) took the opportunity to take a check-in photo in front of the backdrop set up in front of the National Convention Center lobby.

Among the audience present on the evening of October 5, Tai Yang Chen's group was perhaps the most special case.

"We, including 2 friends from Thailand, 2 from Taiwan and 2 others in Vietnam, are members of the Global Bond Fan Club. Recently, when a member of the group shared information about Bond coming to Vietnam to perform, we contacted our friends in Hanoi to book tickets," the 35-year-old man told Nhan Dan Newspaper reporter.

To come to Bond Live In Vietnam, Mr. Tai Yang Chen flew from Taiwan to Hanoi.

On the evening of October 4, exactly 24 hours before the show, Tai Yang Chen landed at Noi Bai International Airport. From Bangkok, a group of two other people also headed to the same destination.

"I was really moved and overwhelmed. I still get goosebumps. Bond is a memory, a part of our youth. They personally inspired me to play the violin and cello," Tai Yang Chen shared.

He added that the last time he attended a concert featuring the most successful string quartet of all time was in 2004.

"It's been 20 years. We really appreciate the Organizing Committee for holding this event in Hanoi," Tai Yang Chen excitedly said.

Meanwhile, Sharon Barrett (31 years old, from England) has just had a journey of hundreds of kilometers to Hanoi. Sharon said that viola artist Elspeth Hanson married her cousin.

"Bond and Elspeth have toured all over the world , but I have never had the chance to see them perform live. So, as soon as I heard the group was coming to Hanoi, I immediately booked a flight to Vietnam to attend," Sharon said.

Sharon Barrett (31 years old, from England) also just had a journey of hundreds of kilometers to Hanoi to watch the 4 girls of the Bond band perform.

She added that she was very impressed when the band from her hometown performed wearing traditional Vietnamese ao dai.

"It feels both new and familiar. There seems to be a connection between music and culture in this performance," said the female teacher currently working in China.

CLASSICAL MUSIC IS FOR EVERYONE

Attending the show, Tran Le Phuong Linh (20 years old) was especially impressed with the music that Bond brought to Vietnam.

Being a young person herself, Phuong Linh only learned about Bond around 2023 and was immediately "inspired" by the melodies that combine classical music with contemporary elements.

Bond's music can be gentle and calm, but can instantly become fierce, powerful and always surprise the listener's emotions on many levels.

"I realized that Bond has a timeless musical style, suitable even for young people of the Gen Z generation," said a female audience member from Hanoi.

Bond is a female musical group consisting of members: Tania Davis (violin), Eos Counsell (violin), Elspeth Hanson (viola) and Gay-Yee Westerhoff (cello). The string quartet from London (England) is famous worldwide for its musical style that blends classical and modern, creating very special music.

Bond's musical style has been compared to that of famous violinist Vanessa-Mae, as they combine classical, rock, pop, latin, folk, jazz, electro with a bit of Indian and Western music styles...

Sharing the same feeling, Ms. Dieu Ngan (24 years old) added that she was especially impressed with the production team's stage arrangement.

"On the main stage, four string quartet girls wearing traditional Vietnamese dresses performed immortal songs. Meanwhile, behind them, a large screen continuously showed typical images of Vietnam," said Ms. Ngan.

The combination of Bond's music with impressive stage created a special effect for the audience.

In particular, all of these image blocks are reprocessed in a graphic style. The production team also carefully selected blocks that match the melody of the music being performed.

"Everything overwhelmed me. Bond's music seemed to blend with the Vietnamese images. It was truly perfect," the female audience member expressed.

"Bond's music is the music of our generation," Quynh Hoa, from Thanh Xuan, confided after the show; she also emphasized that when the familiar melodies played, she felt like she was returning to her youth.

"Thank you Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Organizing Committee for bringing Bond to Vietnam. This is an unforgettable show," said Kim Anh, another 8X audience member.

When I saw the Bond band perform in Hanoi, I was really excited and impressed. The highlight of the performance was "Winter" from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons". This version brought a new breeze, completely different from what I usually see in classical music. Bond's music is not only technically skillful but also full of emotion, making the listener feel like he is lost in a space full of art and creativity.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Music Lecturer at Vietnam - Japan International School shared with Nhan Dan Newspaper reporter.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Music Lecturer at Vietnam Japan International School, shared: "As a music teacher, I have learned many valuable things from the performances of this legendary band. The way they interact with each other on stage, their ability to convey emotions through each note, and their creativity in arranging have opened up new perspectives on music for me. These experiences not only enrich my own knowledge but also give me more interesting stories to share with my students.

I believe that imparting the emotions and experiences from this performance will help my students gain a deeper understanding of the art of music performance. They will see that music is not just about technique but also a way to express soul, emotion and creativity. These inspirations will be a solid foundation for future generations of artists."

USING MUSIC TO CONNECT AND HEAL THE PAIN OF FLOODS IS A WONDERFUL THING!

Not yet overwhelmed with Bond Live In Vietnam, Tai Yang Chen and his group of 5 friends were especially moved by the special meaning of the program.

"I know about the charity purpose of the concert and I am truly grateful that music can help connect and heal the pain. We would like to thank you for organizing such a meaningful program. Thank you Bond for your beautiful, community-oriented actions," Tai Yang Chen emphasized.

Meanwhile, Ms. Sharon Barrett said she "almost burst into tears" when watching the video recording the consequences of super typhoon Yagi (typhoon No. 3) in Vietnam.

"It's great that Bond, and us, can contribute a small part to raise charity funds for the victims of Typhoon Yagi. I really hope that the fund will help them overcome difficulties and return to normal life soon," said the 31-year-old female audience member.

The audience was immersed in the soulful and vibrant musical space of Bond Live In Vietnam.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, a music lecturer at the Vietnam-Japan International School, emotionally said: "The program of donating all proceeds from ticket sales to support flood victims is truly meaningful. This action not only demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and social responsibility but also helps raise awareness of the difficulties that many people are facing.

Combining art with charity creates great power. This is a valuable lesson in compassion and sharing, encouraging people to join hands to support each other in difficult times."

We would like to sincerely thank the effective support of the following units: Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV), Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank), Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) and Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) for contributing to the success of the event.
