Previously, traffic safety and order in districts, towns, and cities were the responsibility of the local police's Traffic Police and other forces. Starting March 1, 2025, after the reorganization of the apparatus, with the elimination of district-level police, the Traffic Police Department, in addition to ensuring traffic safety and order on its assigned routes and areas, will also be responsible for this task.

Accordingly, the Traffic Police Department has established 15 patrol teams responsible for the areas of 15 districts, towns, and cities. These patrol teams are fully equipped with technical means to strictly control and handle violations that are the main causes of traffic accidents. In particular, violations related to alcohol and drug use; modifying vehicle bodies, carrying overloaded or oversized cargo; speeding, failing to obey traffic light signals; driving in the wrong lane, driving against the flow of traffic, unsafe overtaking, etc.
"Despite organizational changes, traffic safety measures on routes and areas are always implemented comprehensively, ensuring the safety of vehicles and people participating in traffic."
Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Hoai Nam.
Observations on roads ranging from provincial highways to rural, urban, and city streets show that, despite the absence of district-level police, traffic police forces continue to regularly carry out their duties in these areas. On national highways passing through the province, patrol and control teams remain on duty 24/7, while also educating and guiding people on safe traffic practices.
Captain Nguyen Thanh Tien, head of the traffic police team in charge of Krong Bong district, said that following the directives of the provincial police leadership and the Traffic Police Department, the team quickly took over the area and implemented comprehensive solutions to ensure traffic safety in the locality. Krong Bong is a remote area of the province, so in addition to patrolling, controlling, and strictly handling traffic violations, the team also intensified propaganda and reminded people to strictly comply with regulations such as "If you have drunk alcohol, do not drive," and wear helmets when riding motorcycles and scooters.

According to statistics, from March 1st to March 23rd, the traffic police force conducted 1,341 patrol and control operations, with 3,198 officers and soldiers participating. Through these operations, they detected and recorded 1,677 traffic violations, temporarily seized 181 vehicles of various types, and collected nearly 3.5 billion VND in fines. These included 901 speeding violations, 144 drunk driving violations, and other offenses. The traffic safety situation throughout the province has shown significant improvement, with traffic accidents reduced across all three criteria. During this period, the province recorded 16 traffic accidents, resulting in 14 deaths and 7 injuries, a decrease of 12 accidents, 5 deaths, and 11 injuries compared to the previous month.
Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Hoai Nam, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police), assessed that after implementing the two-tiered police organizational model, despite organizational changes, traffic safety and order on all routes and areas have been consistently and comprehensively implemented, ensuring the safety of vehicles and people participating in traffic. As a result, traffic safety and order in the province are well controlled, and the awareness of traffic participants has been improved.
In the coming period, the Traffic Police Department will base its actions on the actual traffic volume on each route and the traffic safety situation in each locality to proactively adjust and deploy working groups appropriately for each route and time, with the goal of ensuring that the patrol and control work of the traffic police force is maintained continuously, creating uniformity in handling administrative violations related to traffic violations, contributing to curbing traffic accidents, and minimizing damage to people and property caused by traffic accidents.
