Youth Union members of Dien Trung commune (Ba Thuoc) help people build houses.
We followed the youth union members of Dien Trung commune to Keo village. The young people's luggage was hoes, shovels, crowbars and youthful enthusiasm. In front of them was a stilt house that was seriously degraded and could collapse at any time. Mrs. Ha Thi Khuyen, born in 1962, in Keo village, choked up as she talked about her family's situation. Her family has 2 mothers and children; her mother is 95 years old this year; she herself is in poor health, has no income, and is a poor household in the village. The hard life forced the family to live in a dilapidated stilt house for many years without being able to afford repairs.
Fortunately, after checking, Mrs. Khuyen's family received 40 million VND in support from the Steering Committee for Housing Construction for Poor Households, Policy Households, and Households with Housing Difficulties. With the help of the district, commune, Party Committee, local government, relatives and benefactors, Mrs. Khuyen's family has a new house with an area of 40m2, helping her and her children feel secure in their old age.
At the housing construction project for households, Secretary of the Dien Trung Commune Youth Union Ha Van Tuan excitedly shared: "Responding to the "Youth Month", we promote the tradition of solidarity "Mutual love" of the nation, demonstrating the pioneering role of young people in improving living conditions and ensuring social security. In recent times, the Dien Trung Commune Youth Union has continuously responded to the campaign to support housing construction according to Directive 22-CT/TU, such as: dismantling old houses, moving materials, cleaning the environment... As a result, since the implementation of the directive, the Dien Trung Commune Youth Union has supported 10 households, each with 15 - 20 union members, young people participating for 3 - 4 working days. The remote villages and hamlets with difficult traffic make the transportation of materials costly. The union members have taken turns supporting dismantling and transporting, helping to reduce the burden on poor families. This activity has been enthusiastically supported by the people and local authorities".
Secretary of the Ba Thuoc Ha Nam Thanh District Youth Union said: Responding to Directive 22, the District Youth Union Standing Committee has directed grassroots youth organizations to establish volunteer youth teams, each team has 10-15 members to support families in need of temporary and dilapidated houses. Volunteers not only propagate policies but also directly participate in transporting furniture, dismantling old houses, and preparing the ground for building new houses. In particular, the two peak campaigns on March 20 and April 8 have supported the repair and construction of 42 new houses for policy households and households in difficult circumstances. Thereby, not only demonstrating social responsibility but also fostering the spirit of patriotism and solidarity of the young generation.
With the spirit of “Wherever there is a need, there are youth, wherever there is difficulty, there are youth”, the green volunteer shirts will continue to spread love and responsibility, contributing to building solid houses. This is an important contribution of the youth in completing Directive No. 22-CT/TU on supporting housing construction for poor and disadvantaged households in the period of 2024-2025.
