Youth with experiential travel

By chance, we met a group of young people who are students of Thu Dau Mot University who went on an experiential trip to Phu Quy Island (Binh Thuan). They said that today's students are no longer limited to the framework of books, but have known how to seek out soft skills courses, participate in clubs, academic competitions, and research projects, thereby expanding their knowledge for comprehensive development. Experiential travel is the common choice of the whole group.

They said that in order to have the expenses to travel together, they worked part-time right from their first years of university. The first jobs were simple jobs such as serving in a coffee shop, selling goods, tutoring... but they brought profound lessons and extra money so that "no need to ask parents for money". It also taught them the value of money, equipped them with communication skills, time management and especially a better understanding of the value of labor. Although the part-time work experiences were hard, they were the "school of life" that helped young people mature and become less confused when they actually entered the labor market after graduation.

Experiential tourism is currently a trend that is loved by young people. Different from resort tourism, experiential tourism is a journey to discover new lands, new cultures, new people and even yourself. From backpacking trips, green summer volunteering, to international student exchange trips, young people live differently, experience more and more deeply. Through each trip, their luggage is filled with stories, skills and confidence.

Ngoc Thanh, a fourth-year student majoring in food technology at Thu Dau Mot University, shared that she has been working part-time since her second year, mainly at coffee shops. “We often invite each other to go to Vung Tau or travel within the province such as Dau Tieng, Phu Giao, Tan Uyen… This time is the farthest trip so everyone is very happy,” Thanh said. Another female student also added: “I still make sure to complete my studies well in addition to working part-time. Although the income from part-time work is not much, it is enough for me to pay for my daily needs. The important thing is that I get to meet many new friends, improve skills such as communication and teamwork, and travel together when I have the opportunity.”

Youth only comes once, so don't hesitate to step out of your comfort zone. Study hard, work hard and travel far to see how big the world is. Those experiences will become valuable life capital, a solid foundation for each young person to confidently step into the future.
