On May 26, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka solemnly held a memorial service and wrote a condolence book in memory of comrade Tran Duc Luong, former member of the Politburo and former President of Vietnam.
Attending the ceremony were Consul General Ngo Trinh Ha, all staff of the representative agency, their spouses and representatives of the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in the Kansai region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Ngo Trinh Ha emphasized the great contributions of comrade Tran Duc Luong to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the country's renovation, as well as in the field of foreign affairs and to the Vietnamese community abroad.
After a solemn moment of silence, delegates took turns offering incense, respectfully bowing in memory and signing the condolence book, expressing deep condolences at the passing of an exemplary leader and staunch communist.
At the funeral, representatives of the Osaka city government, Hyogo prefecture, the ASEAN-Japan Center, Congressman Hiroyuki Moriyama, several consular agencies in the Kansai region, and many overseas Vietnamese came to pay their respects and sign the condolence book.
The Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Kansai, the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai and the Sakai City International Exchange Association sent condolences. On the same day, the Mayor of Osaka City sent a letter of condolences to the Consulate General.
