On the afternoon of June 1st, the Government's Electronic Information Portal organized a seminar titled "Seminar: Is the use of E10 gasoline a cause for concern?" with the participation of representatives from state management agencies, associations, and technical experts to exchange, analyze, and answer public concerns related to the use of E10 bio-gasoline.

Participating in the seminar were Mr. Dao Duy Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Huu Tuyen, Director of the Center for Research on Power Sources and Autonomous Vehicles, Hanoi University of Technology; Mr. Bui Ngoc Bao, President of the Vietnam Petroleum Association; Mr. Lo Hai Nam, Head of the Technical Committee of the Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (VAMM); and Mr. Do Van Tuan, President of the Vietnam Biofuel Association.
From June 1st, 2026, E10 bioethanol will officially be distributed and sold nationwide according to the roadmap outlined in Circular No. 50/2025/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade: Regulations on the application of blending ratios of biofuels with traditional fuels in Vietnam.
This step is part of the biofuel development roadmap, aligning with the global energy transition trend, while also meeting the requirements of sustainable development, ensuring energy security, protecting the environment, and fulfilling Vietnam's commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Before nationwide rollout, E10 gasoline was piloted in several localities for nearly a year. Initial results showed no significant difference compared to using regular mineral gasoline. The transition process was also developed by relevant authorities according to a suitable roadmap, based on a comprehensive impact assessment, ensuring a step-by-step implementation to avoid disruption to the market and consumers.
Currently, many countries around the world have introduced biofuels such as E10, E15, and even E20. However, despite having undergone a pilot phase before widespread adoption, E10 gasoline still receives mixed opinions from the public and automotive manufacturers. Concerns focus on engine compatibility, fuel consumption, economic efficiency, and mechanisms to protect consumer rights in case of unforeseen adverse effects from using this fuel.
