On June 17, FPT University announced that in 2024, the school will enroll 1,000 students majoring in semiconductor design and consider granting scholarships of 50% for the first two semesters of the major.
The school will welcome its first batch of students in 2024 with the orientation of specialized training in microchip design and conducting research for Vietnam's semiconductor microchip industry.
Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the Board of FPT University, said that semiconductor microchips are a shortcut to improve Vietnam's national competitiveness. With the goal of preparing high-quality human resources for the global market, the university has built a special scholarship program specifically for this major.
All candidates applying for this major are considered for scholarships ranging from 50% for the first 2 semesters to 100% of the entire program. Successful candidates can choose to study at the Hanoi , Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City or Can Tho branches.
FPT University has planned to cooperate with many universities in the US and Taiwan (China) to design programs, curricula and training standards. These are two of the four leading markets for chips and semiconductors globally.
Students majoring in this field are equipped with two foreign languages and experience a comprehensive and rich personal development program.
Graduating from the major in semiconductor design, students can take on jobs in the semiconductor industry such as designing, simulating, and verifying analog-to-digital circuits; building specification documents, consulting on design process development; managing and supervising the implementation of semiconductor and chip manufacturing processes; testing chips, managing the quality of materials and components in packaging and testing; researching and developing materials and component structures; developing circuit boards and core software to support the development of chip-based applications.
The school also built a model to send semiconductor students abroad to work in this industry by coordinating available resources of FPT Semiconductor Joint Stock Company and FPT Group companies in more than 30 countries.
Recently, 19 businesses and universities from Taiwan (China) came to FPT University to interview 60 students majoring in related fields to select advanced scholarships and work in the field of semiconductor chips abroad.
FPT University has established the Semiconductor Human Resources Training and Export Center to search for and sign contracts with partners in need of semiconductor human resources as well as to train human resources for the semiconductor industry.
