According to the Forest Protection Department, in the first 6 months of 2025, the forest rangers organized 328 patrols, inspections and controls throughout the city. The patrols focused mainly on forest areas bordering Da Nang city with Dong Giang district and Dai Loc district ( Quang Nam province), Phu Loc district (Hue city) and forest areas vulnerable to encroachment such as sub-regions 27, 29, 39... Through patrols, the authorities discovered and destroyed 3 illegal camps, removed nearly 340 traps of various types, including: 87 wire traps, 242 iron traps and 8 rod traps. In addition, the Forest Protection Department also organized 30 inspections, patrols and controls on the transportation and illegal trade of forest products and wildlife, and coordinated with inter-sectoral agencies to deploy 36 patrols on routes around Son Tra Peninsula; 665 tourists were reminded not to feed monkeys…

The Forest Protection Department captured and released 15 wild animals back into the wild, destroying one animal according to regulations due to not meeting rescue conditions. The Mobile Forest Protection and Forest Fire Prevention Team received and handled many cases of wild animals suddenly appearing in residential areas. Typically, at 391/7 Nguyen Van Linh (Thac Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District), Mr. Do Van Thong voluntarily handed over a White-bellied Sandpiper ( scientific name: Anthracoceros albirostris), weighing about 0.4 kg.

This is an endangered wild animal, regulated in Appendix IIB, Decree 84/2021/ND-CP on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 06/2019/ND-CP of the Government on the management of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals and the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. In addition, from the report of the people and the police of Thanh Khe Dong ward (Thanh Khe district), the forest rangers received an individual of the Black-cheeked Gibbon that appeared in the lotus pond area on Ha Huy Tap street. This individual was quickly rescued and transferred in accordance with current regulations. The Department coordinated with Vinpearl Joint Stock Company to organize the reception and handover of the above-mentioned wild animals in early June 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung, Head of the Lien Chieu District Forest Protection Department, said that in the first 6 months of 2025, the department received and successfully released 3 rare forest animals including: 1 striped-neck turtle and 2 pythons. The Lien Chieu District Forest Protection Department always identifies propaganda and mobilization work for people living near forests and forest edges as playing a key role in protecting wildlife and preserving biodiversity.

By regularly directing local forest rangers to coordinate with local authorities and residential groups to organize direct propaganda sessions, the Department has gradually contributed to raising community awareness. Thanks to that, people not only change their behavior but also actively support the force in detecting and promptly informing about cases of wild animals straying into residential areas. When detecting wild animals appearing in residential areas, the first thing people should do is keep a safe distance and immediately notify the Forest Ranger Department to have a suitable approach, rescue and release plan.

According to the Forest Protection Department, Da Nang is the gateway to the Central region, with favorable traffic conditions, and all locations adjacent to the forest have roads. This is also a condition for subjects to take advantage of invading the forest to exploit forest products, trap animals and encroach on forests and forest land; illegally transport forest products and wild animals. Therefore, biodiversity conservation, especially rare and endangered species, should be considered a key, long-term task in the city's forestry development strategy. Each individual animal that is rescued, cared for and successfully released is the result of a transformation and change in people's awareness.

The Department always identifies inter-sectoral coordination as a key factor in preventing, detecting and promptly handling violations related to wildlife. In addition to maintaining regular patrols, the rangers pay special attention to border areas, sub-areas at high risk of encroachment and key routes. For conservation to be effective and sustainable, proactive participation from businesses, social organizations, schools and local communities is essential. Diversifying forms of propaganda, bringing nature conservation content into schools and activities of mass organizations play an important role in changing people's awareness of nature and wildlife conservation.
