Regret
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team ended their journey at the 2025 World Cup with a 0-3 loss to Kenya. Looking at the result of a 4-0 win over their opponent in the pre-tournament friendly match, many people were surprised that coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet 's team lost so completely.
However, it is clear that Kenya is not a rookie, having participated in the world tournament 7 times (while Vietnam is participating for the first time). The fact that this team lost 4 sets in Vietnam does not mean anything because it was just a friendly match with the main purpose of testing, even creating a smokescreen.

Since the friendly match, the team from Africa has carefully studied the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. And when entering the official match at the world championship, they have the best plan to lock down Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh - the two most dangerous strikers of Vietnam.
Besides, the way of making substitutions, adjusting the tempo of the match and exploiting the opponent's weaknesses helped Kenya have a worthy victory against the Vietnamese girls.
For their part, the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team has reason to feel regretful as the opportunity to win a historic match on the world stage did not come true. If they had won, the adventure of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team would have been much more complete and beautiful.

But even after losing 3 matches, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still received a lot of praise. In addition to the fighting spirit for the country's flag, Thanh Thuy and her teammates played very confidently against strong opponents, winning 1 set against the world's 3rd ranked team Poland, and playing fairly against the world's 11th ranked team - Germany.
“Playing in tournaments like this helps us improve. In the last three matches, we have met tall opponents who block well. This is an opportunity for each athlete to learn and gain more confidence for the next matches,” said libero Khanh Dang.
Bich Tuyen returns to "hunt" for SEA Games gold medal?
After the World Championship, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will enter the most important tournament of the year: SEA Games 33 in Thailand. This is the first time the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has assigned coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team the target of winning a gold medal.
In the second round of the SEA V-League, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had a historic victory over Thailand (3-2), winning the championship. However, when entering the world stage, while the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was eliminated after 3 matches, the Thai team reached the round of 16.

After losing to Vietnam in the SEA V-League, the Thai women's volleyball team is doing everything to regain its image at the world tournament held at home, and is determined to defend the gold medal at the SEA Games taking place at the end of the year.
The goal of winning the SEA Games gold medal of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is facing a big challenge not only because Thailand "woke up" after the stumble, but also because Bich Tuyen's ability to compete is still open.
After leaving the team that did not participate in the world tournament in Thailand, it is not impossible that Bich Tuyen will also be absent from the SEA Games. Bich Tuyen scored 45 points to help the Vietnamese girls win against the Thais for the first time in history, and if she does not compete in the SEA Games, it will be a big loss for the team of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet.
