Xuan Van Commune, Tuyen Quang Province urgently evacuated many households from the landslide area.

From the night of October 6 to October 7, due to the impact of storm No. 11, many communes in Tuyen Quang province experienced prolonged heavy rains, leading to the risk of landslides in many localities. On October 7, Xuan Van and Yen Minh communes urgently evacuated people from landslide-prone areas.

In Xuan Van commune, heavy rains affected 50 households in many villages, of which 20 households had their houses eroded by rocks and soil, and 30 households had their houses located in areas at high risk of landslides. In addition, many areas of rice, crops, fruit trees and fish ponds were flooded; many roads and schools were flooded and had landslides.

Mr. Ha Manh Linh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Van Commune, said that immediately after the natural disaster occurred, the commune mobilized forces to quickly assist people in overcoming the consequences, evacuating nearly 30 households to safe places at relatives' houses and the village headquarters, and at the same time mobilizing human resources and machinery to level rocks and soil, quickly clearing landslide-affected roads.

In Yen Minh commune, heavy rain caused a 40 meter long crack to appear on the hilltop along National Highway 4C, in village 6 and Khuoi Ang village.

On the morning of October 7, this area also had 3 landslides on National Highway 4C with a volume of 300m3 .

The appearance of a large crack on the hilltop has led to a high risk of landslides, endangering many households living along National Highway 4C. Therefore, the People's Committee of Yen Minh commune has urgently evacuated 60 households with about 200 people out of the landslide risk area.

The local government has arranged temporary accommodation for people at the political center and the village cultural house, and assigned staff to monitor, be on duty, and put up warning signs to prevent people from entering or leaving the area, especially during times of heavy rain.

Tuyen Quang Province's Hydrometeorological Station warned that due to the impact of storm No. 11, all 124 communes and wards in the province are at very high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams; flash floods, landslides in steep terrain, areas with weak and unstable soil and rock structures, construction works and flooding in low-lying areas, along rivers and streams, and urban flooding.
