Propagating and disseminating the Regulations and address for receiving applications for registration of use of geographical indications and certification trademark "Lai Chau Tea"

On October 14, the Department of Science and Technology issued Official Dispatch No. 3329/SKHCN-QL on coordinating the dissemination and popularization of the Regulations and address for receiving applications for registration of the use of geographical indications and certification trademark "Lai Chau Tea"

On August 19, 2025, the National Office of Intellectual Property issued Decision No. 559/QD-SHTT granting the Certificate of registration of geographical indication " Lai Chau Tea" for 03 products: green tea, Oolong tea and Dong Phuong My Nhan tea.

Then, on August 21, 2025, in Decision No. 178372/QD-SHTTIP, the Department of Intellectual Property issued a Certificate of registration of the trademark "Lai Chau Tea" for products protected by the certified trademark "Lai Chau Tea" which are products protected by the geographical indication "Lai Chau" stated in the Description of the geographical indication "Lai Chau" for tea products as announced.
In order to raise awareness of organizations and individuals producing and trading tea products in the province and develop the "Lai Chau Tea" brand in the market, the Department of Science and Technology recommends that units and localities implement the following contents:
1. Propaganda and dissemination of documents:
- Decision No. 245/QD-SKHCN dated December 26, 2022 of the Department of Science and Technology Promulgating the Regulations on management and use of geographical indication "Lai Chau Tea" for tea products of Lai Chau province;
- Decision No. 36/QD-SKHCN dated March 10, 2023 of the Department of Science and Technology promulgating the Regulations on management and use of the certification trademark "Lai Chau Tea" for tea products of Lai Chau province;
- Decision No. 122/QD-SKHCN dated May 12, 2025 Amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations and Appendix attached to Decision No. 36/QD-SKHCN dated March 10, 2023 of the Department of Science and Technology promulgating the Regulations on management and use of the certification mark "Lai Chau Tea" for tea products of Lai Chau province.
- Decision 559/QD-SHTT, dated August 19, 2025 on granting a certificate of registration of geographical indication "Lai Chau Tea".
- Decision 178372/QD-SHTTIP, dated August 21, 2025 on granting a certificate of registration of the trademark "Lai Chau Tea".

2. Organizations and individuals wishing to register to use the certification trademark and geographical indication "Lai Chau Tea" must prepare a profile and send it to the Department of Science and Technology as follows:
2.1 Registering to use the geographical indication "Lai Chau Tea" 02 sets of documents including:
+ Application for license to use the geographical indication "Lai Chau Tea" written by the representative of the organization or individual according to Appendix IV of Decision No. 245/QD-SKHCN, dated December 26, 2022;
+ Declaration of current status of production, business and quality of Lai Chau Tea products of organizations and individuals according to Appendix V of Decision No. 245/QD-SKHCN,
December 26, 2022;
+ Commitment to use geographical indication trademark according to Appendix VI of Decision No. 245/QD-SKHCN, dated December 26, 2022;
+ Other documents (if any).
2.2. Registering to use the certification trademark "Lai Chau Tea" 01 set of documents
include:
+ Application for a certificate of use of the certification trademark "Lai Chau Tea" according to Appendix IV of Decision 36/QD-SKHCN, dated March 10, 2023;
+ Commitment to use the certification mark "Lai Chau Tea" according to Appendix IV, Appendix V of Decision 36/QD-SKHCN, dated March 10, 2023
+ Other documents (if any).
2.3 Address for receiving applications for registration of use of certification trademark and geographical indication "Lai Chau Tea"
