Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Luong affirmed: Innovation and digital transformation are inevitable trends and objective requirements in socio-economic development, especially for Lai Chau province, a locality with an important strategic position in terms of national defense, security and border sovereignty . In recent times, the province has issued many policies to promote digital transformation, notably Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU dated February 25, 2025 of the Provincial Party Committee on the digital transformation program of Lai Chau province for the period 2021-2025 with a vision to 2030, Directive No. 20-CT/TU dated June 8, 2023 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on strengthening leadership and direction in implementing the "Project on developing applications of data on population, identification and electronic authentication, serving national digital transformation for the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030". Along with that, the province has established community digital technology teams in communes, villages and hamlets, supporting people to use smartphones and access online public services. Along with that, training digital skills and e-commerce for tens of thousands of people, bringing nearly 2,000 agricultural products to e-commerce platforms, creating new development opportunities for people and businesses.
At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing the following contents: The role of innovation in local socio-economic development; application of technology to research and develop new products from local medicinal plant sources; innovative management solutions to promote the market for non-timber forest products in Lai Chau ; Lai Chau in the digital age; integrating AI to enhance the capacity of governance and effective operation of 2-level local governments...

In his closing speech at the workshop, Mr. Le Van Luong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: In the coming time, all levels and sectors need to strengthen the leadership role of Party committees at all levels, the management of the government and the synchronous participation of the entire political system in implementing innovation and digital transformation. Each cadre and party member must be a pioneer in applying digital technology, contributing to spreading the spirit of innovation throughout society. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested sectors and localities to promote inter-sectoral linkages and coordination, promote the role of agencies, enterprises, schools and social organizations in building an innovation ecosystem and digital transformation. The province will continue to invest in modern digital infrastructure, expand 4G/5G coverage, develop data centers, ensure network safety and security and effectively exploit data to serve people and businesses. At the same time, encourage businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in research, application of science, technology, creative startups, and formation of digital transformation models in potential areas of the province. Along with that, promote communication, raise public awareness, towards the goal of "every citizen is a digital citizen, every agency and organization is a digital entity", building a civilized, modern and humane digital society.
Giving away phones to poor and near-poor households in 4 communes and wards
At the workshop, telecommunications businesses inside and outside the province sponsored and presented 81 smartphones and SIM cards to poor and near-poor households in the communes and wards of Tan Phong, Doan Ket, Phong Tho and Ta Leng.
On this occasion, delegates visited booths displaying innovative products, technology products, OCOP products, agricultural products, etc.
