Vietnam team lacks fire
Looking back at recent matches, the Vietnamese team has been disappointing with their lack of energy and fighting spirit. It cannot be said that the team has not tried, but clearly the "fire" of desire seems to be fading.
The reason is not difficult to see. Coach Kim Sang Sik's current squad is a mix of veterans past their prime and a group of young, inexperienced players.

The names that made success under Coach Park Hang Seo now show signs of being overloaded, even losing their inspiration to compete. Meanwhile, the next generation, although given the opportunity, have not been able to make a difference, only "meeting the requirements" but not really exploding.
The recent matches against Nepal are a clear example. Vietnam controlled the ball a lot, but lacked decisiveness. Each combination became predictable, while the pressing spirit was almost gone. What the red team showed, the fans are in dire need of a new boost for Vietnam to come back.
Need Mr. Kim Sang Sik to take action
In that context, coach Kim Sang Sik really needs to act. The captain cannot rely on familiar names, who are full of glory and lack ambition.
In other words, the Vietnamese team needs a new breeze of worthy players who are more eager to prove themselves instead of the old group of faces "reserved" in each training session.

V-League or even First Division actually has had many faces considered good, however, they have never been called up by coach Kim Sang Sik or if they have, they have played a secondary role to the old players.
It's hard to blame coach Kim Sang Sik, because the Korean captain's mission is to achieve results, and the decision to call up personnel is more about the safe option instead of gambling with new players.
Fans of course like winning football, but if they win 3 points in a difficult way like the 2 matches against Nepal, or have too many mistakes in the confrontations with Laos and Cambodia, then watching a team with new elements play with more desire than... suffocation like the Vietnam team at the moment.
Coach Kim Sang Sik needs to act now, instead of continuing to wait for naturalized players to appear as a “miracle” or a savior. Because no matter what, internal strength is the face of the Vietnamese team, not anything else.
