U16 Vietnam says goodbye to 6 players

Before the departure, the Vietnam U16 team had a practice match with Viettel U17. After the practice session, the coaching staff finalized the list of 24 players participating in the CFA Team China 2025 U16 international tournament. Thus, there were 6 players whose names were not on the list, including: goalkeeper Vu Duy Anh, defender Le Nguyen Khanh, Nguyen Bao Nam, midfielder Tran Ngoc Son, Bui Gia Huan and Phan Anh Luc.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau - Deputy General Secretary of VFF is the Head of the Vietnam U16 team to participate in the CFA Team China 2025 International U16 Tournament.

Speaking about the farewell to young, promising faces, head coach Cristiano Roland said: “The final list stage is always the most difficult. The coaching staff must choose from a group of quality players, finding those who best suit the team's playing style. Up to this point, the whole team has performed very well. However, this is just the beginning of a long journey towards the 2026 AFC U17 Qualifiers. Players who are not on the list still have many opportunities ahead.”

In China, U16 Vietnam will have 2 more days of training, getting used to the weather conditions in Hohhot before entering the opening match against U16 Australia on May 28. The next two matches of coach Cristiano Roland and his team will take place on May 30 against U16 China and on June 1 against U16 Saudi Arabia.

Talking about this tournament, Mr. Cristiano Roland said that meeting strong teams will be a good experience for young players, he emphasized: “This is the first test for the new generation of players. The three opponents in the tournament are all very strong, so the requirements for the attitude and spirit of the U16 Vietnam team will be pushed to the maximum.

These three matches are also an opportunity for the players to understand where they are in comparison to the Asian level. The team will make the best use of the matches to gain experience and work towards the important goal ahead, which is the 2026 AFC U17 Qualifiers.
