U22 Indonesia ended their memorable journey at the 32nd SEA Games with the Gold medal in Men's Football after a dramatic victory over U22 Thailand when 7 red cards were shown.
U22 Indonesia drew 2-2 with U22 Thailand in 90 minutes of intense regulation time, before scoring 3 more goals in extra time to win 5-2 overall.
This victory helped Indonesian football quench its "thirst" by winning its first SEA Games Gold medal after a long 32-year wait.
Notably, in the last championship, Indonesia also surpassed Thailand to step onto the highest podium at the 1991 SEA Games in Myanmar.
As for Thailand, this defeat prevented them from achieving the feat of winning the SEA Games Gold Medal 17 times.
In the final match, U22 Indonesia entered the match confidently and determined to win the championship for the first time in 32 years.
The determination of U22 Indonesia was rewarded with the opening goal 1-0 in the 22nd minute thanks to an own goal by a U22 Thai player after a header by Ramadhan Sananta.
Not stopping there, in the 45+5 minute, from a mistake by goalkeeper Soponwit of U22 Thailand, Ramadhan Santana continued to score, doubling the gap.
