U23 Cambodia holds West Asian opponent to a draw

Cambodia U23 is in Group J of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. They faced Lebanon U23 in the opening match. The West Asian team scored the opening goal in the 7th minute. Cambodia U23 then scored 2 goals to turn the game around, leading 2-1. Lebanon U23 equalized 2-2 with a goal in the 74th minute.

The Southeast Asian representative missed the chance to win 3 points. However, this draw was also a surprise in the first round of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. In this group, U23 Cambodia faced host U23 Saudi Arabia and U23 Mongolia.

U23 Myanmar got 1 point in the draw with U23 Kyrgyzstan. The Southeast Asian representative opened the score early thanks to Kaung Htet Paing. In the second half, U23 Kyrzstan equalized. The chance of U23 Myanmar advancing is not high because this group also has U23 Korea.

The 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers are taking place with 11 groups. The group winners and the four best runners-up will qualify for the finals in Qatar next year.
