U23 Myanmar, with more experience, quickly took the lead in the 13th minute thanks to Shine Wanna Aung's shot that changed direction, leaving the opposing goalkeeper helpless.
However, U23 Timor Leste was not easily defeated. After each time they fell behind, they fought back strongly. Although Myanmar continued to score two more goals thanks to Than Toe Aung (header from a free kick) and Min Maw Oo (solo goal), Timor Leste still maintained their resilient fighting spirit.

The turning point came in the 75th minute when Canavaro scored a superb goal from long range, narrowing the gap to 3-4. The climax was pushed up in the extra time, when Mota made a lightning-fast counter-attack and then assisted Bakhito to easily tap the ball into the net from close range, sealing a 4-4 draw.
Although not highly rated before the U23 Southeast Asian tournament, the Timor Leste players made everyone take their hats off to their incredible spirit and effort.
With a point to their name, both teams still have a chance to progress, but this match will certainly be remembered as one of the most emotional chases of the tournament.
