According to Politico magazine, due to a shortage of expensive interceptor missiles, Ukraine is increasingly using its domestically produced Lima electronic warfare (EW) systems.
The article emphasizes that this EW system does not directly shoot down targets, but instead jams and distorts satellite navigation signals, forcing Russian drones and missiles to change direction.
"The developer claims that Lima has helped jam up to 20,500 Geran drones and deflected dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles over the past 18 months," Politico revealed.
The author adds that this EW system can protect large areas and is significantly cheaper than traditional air defense systems. The manufacturer emphasizes that protecting a large city costs around 5 million euros – roughly the same price as one Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missile.

However, as the article acknowledges, this electronic warfare system also has drawbacks.
"The main risk is that missiles and drones that have been diverted will still fall and cause damage. However, the Ukrainian military believes that with the Lima system becoming operational, the likelihood of Russian ballistic missiles hitting their intended targets will be significantly reduced," the article states.
It is noteworthy that during the May 24th attack, Ukraine's air defense system was completely ineffective against the Russian missiles. No electronic warfare system could counter them.
Furthermore, PAC-3 interceptor missiles from the US Patriot air defense system have recently been frequently falling onto the streets of Ukrainian cities, and it cannot be ruled out that this is the result of the Lima electronic warfare system.
