According to the Telegraph, the Ukrainian government has reached a cooperation agreement with the American artificial intelligence (AI) technology company Palantir to clear landmines and explosives.
Accordingly, Palantir will provide Ukraine with artificial intelligence (AI) tools to organize and accelerate mine clearance efforts. It is estimated that about one-third of Ukraine's land area is believed to be contaminated with landmines or unexploded ordnance.
The Ukrainian government hopes to clear over 80% of land potentially containing landmines within 10 years, freeing up agricultural land and restoring many areas to a safe state for economic purposes.
AI Palantir is owned by Silicon Valley tech billionaire Peter Thiel. The company's clients include governments and private companies across a wide range of industries. In the government segment, Palantir is a prominent military contractor.
In other developments, according to Anadolu news agency, General Oleksandr Syrsky, the new Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian army, stated during an inspection of the eastern front that the army needs to quickly reorganize its command personnel at the brigade level. General Oleksandr Syrsky said he has sent specialists to assess ineffective combat brigades before replacing their commanding officers.
