According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Tien Giang is a province with great potential for livestock development and is always in the top 2 of the southern provinces in poultry farming with a total herd of over 17.8 million birds, an increase of 10.0% over the same period in 2024. Every year, Tien Giang's poultry industry supplies the market with about 1.2 billion eggs.

Poultry is also the target for restructuring of the livestock industry in Tien Giang province. Therefore, in order to promote the sustainable development of the poultry industry, especially egg-laying poultry, technological solutions for breeding are considered the top solution that needs attention.

Dr. Thai Quoc Hieu, Deputy Head of the Department of Industry and Trade of Tien Giang province, spoke at the training class.

Besides the achieved results, the livestock industry of the province is currently facing many difficulties and major challenges such as unstable livestock prices, many times the production cost is higher than the selling price, leading to prolonged losses.

Animal breeding work still has many shortcomings, the breeding system is not complete, there is a lack of connection between production - breeding - consumption. Awareness of the role of breeding in improving productivity and quality is still limited.

The rate of small-scale farming still accounts for more than 95%, making it difficult to trace origins and apply technical advances. This makes farming productivity low, and products difficult to compete in the market.

According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in actual production, livestock breeds are considered the decisive factor in productivity and product quality. This issue has always been of interest and focus to the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tien Giang province.

Therefore, many policies and strategies have been implemented to synchronously implement solutions to encourage businesses to research and invest in building livestock breeding farms and importing high-yield, high-quality breeds.

At the same time, supporting local authorities and livestock farmers to access this source of livestock breeds to bring about double effectiveness, both preventing and controlling diseases, reducing production costs and achieving higher profits. Thereby, gradually controlling the source of breeds, limiting diseases, contributing to bringing high economic efficiency.

Therefore, the training course was organized to introduce popular and effective breeds that have been and are being developed in the province, especially introducing the CP chicken breed. T1 - Pink egg-laying hens with a peak laying rate of >96% at 26 weeks of age.
