Cure measles, prolonged cough and fever in children: River bone leaves, sour tamarind, mulberry root bark, rehmannia root bark, perilla; equal doses (8-10g). You should boil and drink. If you have loose stools or diarrhea, reduce sour tamarind (Nam Duoc Than Hieu).
Cure for cold stroke and loss of speech : Fresh Chinese skullcap leaves and Chinese mugwort leaves. Crush and mix with hot water or boil to drink (Nam Duoc Than Hieu).
Cure high fever, convulsions, and shortness of breath in children : Leaves of the Chinese skullcap and Chinese tamarind. Crush, add hot water, squeeze to get the juice and give to drink.
Cure itchy rash all over the body: 2 parts of Chinese skullcap leaves and star fruit leaves, 1 part of tamarind leaves (half the amount). Crush, squeeze the juice and give to drink; use the pulp to rub on the outside.
Cure mouth ulcers, sore throat, tonsillitis, hoarseness: Hold river bone juice in your mouth.
According to foreign documents, the decoction of river bones cures malaria, flu, and edema; the leaves or the whole plant are used as a medicine to induce sweating, treat sore throat, bronchitis, and mouth ulcers. In Malaysia, the leaves are crushed, roasted, and applied to painful areas to treat rheumatism.
