“The Last Role” won 3 major awards in the 24-hour short film creation contest

The film “The Last Role” by aeX Team has won 3 major awards at the short film competition Media24h Production Race 2025. The competition was jointly organized by TRIHD ASIA Variety Media Company, Cinema World Magazine and C.UP Academy, with Ho Chi Minh City Television as media sponsor.

“The Last Role” by aeX Team won a hat-trick of three major awards: Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography.

Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Hang, Chairwoman and CEO of TRIHD ASIA Variety Media Company, Head of the Organizing Committee, said: “The Media24h Production Race season three has 56 teams from universities, colleges, academies and young filmmaking groups. From 3 teams in the first season to 56 teams in season 3, Media24h has proven that when we have faith in the young generation, we will see them do miracles, even in 24 hours.”

Young filmmakers have overcome challenges in the competition.

Journalist and film critic Hoang Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Cinema World Magazine and Head of the Jury, said: “With the challenge of randomly drawing topics and themes, I did not expect to have a completed film in 24 hours, but some films really surprised me because of their meticulousness, good techniques and professional storytelling.”

The general assessment from the jury is that each short film in the competition has a creative spirit crystallized from time pressure, love of culture and new aesthetic thinking. The young people may not have reached the level of professionalism, but it is the fact that they go beyond their comfort zone, dare to shoot, dare to tell stories, dare to make mistakes that makes them become real filmmakers.
