With a favorable geographical location in the Northern key economic zone, more than 50km from Ha Long City, the transportation system is increasingly synchronized, facilitating inter-regional connections. In particular, Van Don is also a locality with an international airport, seaport, and highway - key factors for large-scale and sustainable tourism development.
Outstanding with unique natural landscape, harmonious combination of mountains and sea. Here there are ranges of rocky mountains, earthen mountains interwoven with cool primeval forests, creating a wild ecological space, attracting tourists who love to explore nature. Under the sea are fine white sand beaches, gently sloping, shaped like a crescent, ideal for relaxation and swimming such as: Son Hao, Ngoc Vung, Quan Lan, Minh Chau... These are all famous places not only for local people, but also increasingly known by domestic and foreign tourists.
Recognizing that potential and strength, in recent years, Van Don district has focused on developing infrastructure for marine tourism, especially attracting investment from the private sector. According to statistics, from 2020 to present, the locality has attracted nearly 39,000 billion VND of non-budgetary investment capital, with 59 large and small projects. Thanks to that, many transport and urban infrastructure works have been built and put into use, creating a solid foundation for tourism to break through.
Some typical key projects include: Van Don International Airport - the first private airport in Vietnam; Ha Long - Van Don Expressway; main roads connecting functional areas; Cai Rong urban center road; Ao Tien high-class port; 58m main road... These projects not only contribute to promoting trade, but also help shorten the travel time of tourists to resorts and beaches, creating favorable conditions for tourism investors to develop products and services. Besides transport infrastructure, Van Don also focuses on calling for investment in large-scale tourism and beach resorts. Many large projects have come into operation such as: Angsana Quan Lan Ha Long Bay Hotel; eco-resorts combined with entertainment on the island; Sonasea Van Don Harbor City resort complex...
Among them, the Sonasea Van Don resort complex invested by CEO Group is making a strong impression. Mr. Cao Van Kien, General Director of CEO Group said: “With the desire to elevate Van Don tourism, we have put into operation the Wyndham Garden Sonasea Van Don hotel with a scale of 200 rooms along with a system of conference rooms, seminars and 5-star services. This is an important highlight, helping to improve the capacity to welcome tourists, while creating a strong push for resort infrastructure in the area, which was previously lacking and weak”.
Currently, in Van Don district, there are 236 accommodation establishments with a total of 3,250 rooms, reaching 117% over the same period, showing the rapid development of the accommodation service system, gradually meeting the increasing demand of domestic and foreign tourists.
Oriented to 2030, with a vision to 2045, Van Don continues to be identified as a multi-sector, multi-field marine economic center, focusing on high-quality services and tourism. With thorough investment, the support of strategic investors and the continuous efforts of the local government, Van Don is on its way to becoming the leading destination for sea tourism and high-end resorts in Vietnam and reaching out internationally.
