Faced with new requirements and tasks, the education and training sector needs to deeply imbue and effectively apply Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on education. "President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, philosophy, educational spirit, spirit of learning and self-study, lifelong learning on education and training still retain their value and continue to be the guiding principle for the process of implementing fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training today", Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son affirmed in his speech at the National Scientific Conference "Uncle Ho with Education, Education with Uncle Ho".
The workshop was held to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025); the 80th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's first letter to students and teachers (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education, now the Ministry of Education and Training (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025).
National education has contributed to improving people's knowledge, nurturing talents, and training increasingly high-quality human resources for the cause of industrialization, modernization, and national development.
Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that in recent years, our Party and State have always paid deep attention to and appreciated the role of education, so the education sector has achieved many great achievements. That is also a vivid demonstration of the inheritance and promotion of President Ho Chi Minh's educational ideology. Party committees, authorities and the education sector at all levels have imbued him with his ideology, motto and educational guidelines, and have gradually concretized the inclusion of Ho Chi Minh's ideology in the content, curriculum, exams, tests, assessments, political education, revolutionary ideals, ethics, lifestyle, life skills, physical education for students; and coordination between schools, families and society in educating students.
Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style have permeated every professional activity, every lecture, every program for training skills and personality in schools. The country's education has contributed to improving people's knowledge, nurturing talents, and training human resources of increasingly higher quality for the cause of industrialization, modernization and national development. The team of teachers and educational managers have inherited his ideology, have constantly progressed and their force is increasingly strong.
Ho Chi Minh is not only a national hero, a great politician and cultural figure, but in the fullest and most typical sense, Ho Chi Minh is the greatest educator in modern times. The first aspect of a great educator is to inspire and set the direction for an entire nation and for each individual. Ho Chi Minh demonstrated the spirit of "personal education", that is, taking himself as an example to influence, educate, gather and convince comrades, students and people. The exemplary character of diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality, and selflessness, in the immense, widespread and profound affection of Ho Chi Minh has spread deeply and contributed to creating values for the nation, for the era, for the political party and for the Vietnamese people. He left an everlasting mark on the cultural values, moral values and personality of the Vietnamese people now and in the future.
In the new context, to bring the country into the era of development, prosperity, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, the Party and the State have identified education and training, along with science and technology, as the top national policy. Many important and breakthrough policies have been and are being implemented so that education can continue to develop, achieve even greater results, create conditions and funds to develop people to meet the requirements of the new era and provide high-quality human resources for socio-economic development.
Minister Nguyen Kim Son affirmed that, in the face of new requirements and tasks, the education and training sector needs to deeply imbue and effectively apply Ho Chi Minh's ideology on education. The Minister believes that in the coming time, the education sector needs to continue to perceive and effectively implement the following tasks:
Firstly , continue to research and clarify Ho Chi Minh's legacy in education. The education sector needs to promote propaganda and education on Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style throughout the sector, especially among cadres, teachers, students and pupils. For students in general, especially high school students, it is necessary to continue to promote the study of Uncle Ho's 5 teachings regularly and effectively.
Second , follow, implement and promote Ho Chi Minh's educational ideology in building a learning society and lifelong learning, promoting the spirit of self-study, as directed by General Secretary To Lam "lifelong learning to dare to think, dare to speak, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, dare to sacrifice for the common good to become a useful person for society"; The General Secretary also directed in the article "Lifelong Learning": "We are living in an era where knowledge, understanding and understanding will help people maximize their potential to make good use of opportunities, effectively respond to challenges for sustainable development; it is also an era where the amount of human knowledge increases exponentially every day".
To implement President Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the instructions of General Secretary To Lam, the education sector will strengthen education to train self-study capacity, continuous learning skills, digital learning, digital application, improve digital capacity, innovation capacity for learners, creating a new generation of people who know how to respond and adapt to the challenges of the times, of artificial intelligence and knowledge explosion.
Third , improve the quality of comprehensive education, especially education on ethics, lifestyle, revolutionary ideals, and build a generation of citizens who are comprehensively developed in morality, intelligence, physique, and aesthetics. Continue to study in the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh in constantly nurturing revolutionary ideals and national aspirations, improving both the people's intelligence and spirit. It is necessary to promote Ho Chi Minh's method of moral education and method of training learners' personalities. Especially the method of self-cultivation, self-training, self-reflection, self-correction, self-regulation, self-discipline, and self-improvement. That is the spirit of diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality, honesty, and sacrifice.
The challenges of the nation in the new era are extremely great, both the intelligence and the qualities of the Vietnamese people need to be further improved to be able to shoulder the responsibility of the times. People often emphasize the aspect of self-study, but the aspect of Ho Chi Minh as an educator is also shown in the educational method, a method that is especially useful for developing human moral character, that is the method of self-development and self-training, that is the other important dimension of self-study.
Fourth , continue to care for and develop the team of teachers and educational managers, considering this a decisive factor for the success of the innovation process. Building a team of teachers needs to be exemplary, in the spirit of "each teacher must be a shining example for students to follow", with the spirit and qualities of dedication and sacrifice, no matter how difficult it is, we must strive to compete to teach well and study well.
"Teachers must become role models of continuous self-study, self-innovation, self-improvement of capacity, skills, and innovation in teaching methods. The immediate task is to fully and effectively implement the Central Resolutions on education, training, science and technology, and innovation," Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized.
