After the merger, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City has 6 specialized departments, and continues to develop a project to arrange public service units under the Department according to the instructions of the superiors. Currently, the agency has completed the work of arranging and assigning personnel to specialized departments under the Department, arranging offices, facilities, and equipment to serve the work to put into operation according to the general policy, avoiding interruptions, work congestion, missing tasks, and immediately resolving administrative procedure requests of people and businesses.
At first, the civil servants of the sector proactively approached the work, the Department's apparatus operated relatively stably and effectively. The Department also implemented the review and synchronization of legal documents related to the activities of the culture, sports and tourism sectors of the 3 former localities, to create favorable conditions for people and businesses to carry out administrative procedures, synchronize 100% of administrative procedures with the National Public Service Portal, providing 178 public services on the National Public Service Portal. Of which, there are 157 full-process public services and 21 partial public services. The total number of administrative procedures is 178, of which 167 are provincial-level administrative procedures and 11 are commune-level administrative procedures.
With the spirit of "Culture is the foundation - Information is the conduit - Sports is the strength - Tourism is the connecting bridge", the merger is an important milestone for the whole industry to strive and steadily enter the new era of the nation. From the results achieved in the first 6 months of the year of the 3 localities, with a new position and new vision, the whole industry strives to make a breakthrough to successfully complete the key tasks in the last months of 2025.
Regarding festivals, the whole industry focused on consulting and preparing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); Ok-Om-Bok Festival - Ngo Boat Race activities in 2025; at the same time, preparing plans for holidays and anniversaries in 2026; plans to welcome the New Year, celebrate the Party - celebrate Binh Ngo Spring in 2026.
In the field of culture and family, the sector continues to implement the activities of the Movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", build urban civilization, organize a summary of 25 years of the Movement's activities in the period 2000-2025. At the same time, deploy the construction of titles: cultural family; cultural hamlet, area; typical commune, ward, town. Coordinate the implementation of 24 special issues of "Grassroots Culture", "Cultural Stories", "Cultural Life" newsletter, "Proud of Can Tho people" program... At the same time, continue the work of protecting and promoting cultural heritage; projects to preserve and promote national intangible cultural heritage associated with tourism development; organize periodic art programs and celebrate holidays and anniversaries...
A special task in the coming time is to focus on organizing cultural and artistic activities to promote the Can Tho City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Party Congress, with the goal of creating an exciting atmosphere among the people about the new era of development, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
In the field of physical education and sports, the industry continues to direct the implementation of the target of the number of people practicing physical education and sports regularly; increasing the number of sports families; organizing well and extensively city sports tournaments; hosting national tournaments with professional quality, and at the same time reviewing and advising on policies for athletes and coaches.
In the tourism sector, the industry organizes tourism stimulus programs with the message "Vietnam - Go to love"; coordinates with localities and businesses to organize tourism events to attract tourists to the city; encourages businesses, organizations and individuals providing travel services, tourist areas, tourist attractions, tourist accommodation establishments, and tourism service providers to cooperate and link up to offer many incentives on prices, new types of services and products to enhance the experience for tourists; produces tourism promotion publications...
In the field of press and publishing, the industry builds a list of orders to serve political tasks using the state budget; provides information to press agencies, carries out propaganda on political tasks and reports on information and propaganda work.
At the working session with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on July 15, 2025, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the entire culture, sports and tourism sector in deploying the apparatus and directing stable activities after the merger.
In addition, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep also requested the Department's leadership to urgently review and continue to reorganize and consolidate the apparatus towards streamlining, effective and efficient operation, promoting the role and responsibility of the head, promoting internal solidarity; paying attention to arranging facilities and reasonable working headquarters, promoting functions to ensure operational requirements; promoting digital transformation. At the same time, she requested the Department to focus on reviewing, advising, and submitting to the City People's Committee to organize activities on holidays, anniversaries, and important festivals in the last months of the year; continue to build and promulgate development mechanisms and policies of the industry suitable to the new situation, exploiting and promoting to the maximum the potential and strengths, especially the cultural and tourism resources of Can Tho City after the merger.
