On June 13, Chinese media outlet JIMU News reported that Cui Hua (21 years old), a social media influencer in the country, died just days after entering a diet camp. She reportedly weighed 156 kg and joined the camp with the goal of losing weight to 56 kg.
Joining the diet camp, Cui Hua wanted to lose weight as quickly as possible.
On her personal page, Cui Hua often shares her rigorous training regimen at the camp as well as the strict diet she is following. In the clip recording her weight loss process, it can be clearly seen that Cui Hua is struggling to complete the exercises.
In the following days, Cui Hua noticed strange signs in her body. She sent a text message saying, “I feel a little tired.” She was later reported to have passed away. The cause of Cui Hua’s death has not yet been revealed.
JIMU News contacted Cui Hua's father, who confirmed that his daughter had attended the diet camp on May 25. On May 27, he received a call from the diet camp staff, informing him that Cui Hua had passed away. Cui Hua's father revealed the agreement between his daughter and the diet camp: "She came to the camp to shoot videos , and the camp had to pay her."
Cui Hua died at the age of 21.
To clarify the matter, JIMU News also contacted the diet camp and received the answer: "This is in the past, you don't need to ask any more questions."
The incident is being investigated by the authorities.
