Welcoming us at the village cultural house, Mr. Trang Lao Minh, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Lao Kho 1 village, said: The village has 138 households with 686 people, 100% of whom are Mong ethnic people, bordering the Lao PDR in the South and West. In the past, the people's lives were still difficult, but thanks to the attention of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus of the people, the village has changed day by day. People actively follow the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's laws, village conventions and regulations, actively change the structure of crops and livestock, and their lives have improved day by day.
Currently, people in Lao Kho 1 village are maintaining intensive cultivation of more than 38 hectares of rice, with a yield of more than 110 tons; more than 40 hectares of corn; more than 138 hectares of plum. The village also grows more than 4 hectares of macadamia and 3 hectares of other fruit trees; has more than 1,200 livestock and over 1,500 poultry. With economic development, people in the village have the conditions to contribute to the construction of new rural areas; since the beginning of the year, people in the village have contributed 280 working days and more than 187 million VND to pour concrete on more than 260 meters of internal roads, making travel and transportation of agricultural products much more convenient than before.
With the same excitement, Mr. Trang Lao Tang enthusiastically shared: My family grows more than 2 hectares of plums and is testing more than 100 pear trees that have already produced fruit. Thanks to roads and grid electricity, my family has the conditions to invest in commodity production, earning over 200 million VND each year.

Coming to Lao Kho 1 village, we also heard the story about the military-civilian relationship between Mr. Trang Lao Kho and the villagers with President Kaysone Phomvihane and the Lao Bac Volunteers during the resistance war against France, contributing to fostering the innocent and pure friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
Visiting Mr. Trang Lao Lu, son of Mr. Trang Lao Kho, a prestigious person in the village, in the traditional house of the Mong ethnic group, Mr. Lu said: From 1948 to 1951, the Lao Bac Volunteer Committee led by Comrade Kay-xone Phom-vi-han stopped at Phieng Sa village (now Lao Kho 1 village). At that time, my father, Mr. Trang Lao Kho, together with the villagers, wholeheartedly sheltered and hid Lao revolutionary cadres, keeping them secret and safe so they could return to build up their forces. Also during those years, comrade Kaysone Phomvihane and the Lao Bac Volunteers relied on the support of the local people to train troops, grasp the situation, and then spread from Phieng Sa to build revolutionary bases in Xieng Kho and many northern regions of Laos, laying a solid foundation for the development of the Lao people's resistance movement against French colonialism to victory.

Mr. Trang Lao Lu shared more: My village has a Vietnam - Laos revolutionary historical relic site, we often tell our children and grandchildren about the Vietnam - Laos solidarity, preserve the landscape; and are ready to welcome visitors, so that anyone who comes to Lao Kho will understand more about the steadfast love between the two countries.
Along with economic development, Lao Kho 1 village focuses on building cultural and social life. People in the village regularly participate in cultural and sports movements; currently the village has 1 art troupe and many sports teams operating regularly. In particular, the village regularly organizes cultural, artistic, physical education and sports exchanges with villages in Laos on holidays and New Year, further strengthening solidarity and friendship.
Lao Kho 1 village today not only bears a special historical mark of Vietnam-Laos friendship, but is also a bright spot of solidarity, diligence and aspiration of the people in the border area of the Fatherland.
