80 years ago, on November 23, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 64/SL establishing the Special Inspection Committee, marking the birth and becoming the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Inspection sector. 80 years of establishment and growth, the Inspection sector has promoted its core role in the fight against, prevention, detection, handling of violations, negativity, corruption, rectification of state management, socio-economic management, perfecting mechanisms and policies, resolving complaints and denunciations of citizens, making an important contribution to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

During 80 years of construction and growth, the activities of the Inspectorate have always been closely linked to the revolutionary cause of the nation. Although with many different names such as: Special Inspectorate (1945-1948), Government Inspectorate (1949-1954), Central Inspectorate of the Government (1955-1960), Government Inspectorate Committee (1961-1983), State Inspectorate Committee (1984-1989), State Inspectorate (1990-2004), Government Inspectorate (from 2004 to present), generations of cadres, civil servants and public employees of the Vietnam Inspectorate have always maintained their qualities and political mettle, trained and strived to implement as President Ho Chi Minh advised: The attitude and qualities of an inspector must be revolutionary ethics, careful, objective, and anti-bureaucracy; "Inspectors are the eyes and ears of superiors, and friends of subordinates".

In Son La, the Provincial Inspectorate (now Son La Provincial Inspectorate) was established in 1963. After 62 years of construction and development, the Provincial Inspectorate with different names and organizational models according to the practical requirements of each historical period, the inspection agencies have always closely followed the goals and key tasks of each period, conducting thousands of inspections with different contents and scales; advising on the settlement of tens of thousands of complaints and denunciations from citizens; effectively preventing and stopping negative behaviors, and making many recommendations to rectify management work in the socio -economic fields.

Over the past 5 years (2020-2025), the province's inspection agencies have constantly innovated in direction and management methods in inspection activities, creating positive changes and achieving very important results in all aspects.

Provincial Inspectorate met to deploy tasks.

The inspection work has many innovations, advising the Provincial People's Committee to issue many directive documents on inspection work, handling complaints, denunciations and preventing corruption; guiding inspection agencies to develop plans close to the actual situation; selecting inspection contents with focus and key points, focusing on pressing issues that the public is interested in. Directing professional and technical coordination, fully and seriously implementing professional procedures, ensuring time and progress, implementing democracy, publicity and transparency in inspection activities. Conducting inspections of the implementation results of annual inspection plans of lower-level inspection agencies; strengthening inspection of the responsibilities of heads of agencies and units, preventing violations; post-inspection handling has many positive changes.

The work of receiving citizens, handling petitions and resolving complaints and denunciations has been effectively implemented by all levels, sectors and inspection agencies. Newly arising complaints and denunciations have been focused on verification and timely resolution, and the quality of complaint and denunciation resolution has been gradually improved. The highlight is that many complicated, pending and long-standing cases have been focused on inspection, review and resolution; proactively advising on the dissemination and implementation of directives and resolutions of the Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership in the work of receiving citizens and resolving complaints and denunciations; and strengthening coordination between sectors and inspection agencies to resolve complaints and denunciations, which has limited the rate of re-complaints and re-sues.

The inspection agencies have advised all levels and sectors to promote propaganda and education on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity; proposed to build and gradually perfect institutions on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity; issued many documents guiding and urging the implementation of fairly synchronous solutions to prevent corruption; strengthened inspection of the responsibilities of heads of agencies and units in implementing legal provisions on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity; linked inspection activities with effective prevention and detection and handling of corruption and waste; synthesized periodic and ad hoc reports on the results of anti-corruption work to the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, Provincial Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Waste and Negativity and the Government Inspectorate to ensure the time and content as required.

The organization, apparatus, and staff of the industry are constantly being consolidated, enhanced, and developed in both quantity and quality. From only being able to carry out small-scale, narrow-scope inspections, up to now, the Son La Inspectorate has organized thematic inspections on a large scale, wide scope, involving many levels, many sectors, and many socio-economic fields; advising and proposing many solutions to rectify socio-economic management at all levels and sectors. Paying attention to building and promulgating many professional processes, internal management and operation regulations, and coordination regulations with relevant agencies to effectively perform the functions and tasks of the industry.

In particular, in 2025, implementing the Central Government's policy and the direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee on implementing the Project on rearranging and perfecting the organizational structure of specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee, in the direction of streamlining, compactness, strength, efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency, the Provincial Inspectorate has proactively and actively coordinated with relevant agencies and units to develop, submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval and complete the Project on merging inspection agencies in the province, terminating inspection activities at departments, branches, districts and cities. By June 30, 2025, the merger and perfecting of the Provincial Inspectorate and the inspection agencies of departments, districts and cities were completed on schedule, ensuring the principle of "a unified, streamlined, clear-cut, clear-function, clear-task focal point". The new organizational structure is designed in the direction of streamlining intermediate focal points, reducing overlapping tasks; At the same time, promote the role of direction, guidance, and unified inspection from the Provincial Inspectorate to professional departments and citizen reception departments, handling petitions, and resolving complaints and denunciations.

The Provincial Inspectorate has been operating stably and smoothly under the new model. The functions and tasks under the 2025 Inspection Law have been implemented synchronously and effectively. Inspection activities under the new model help increase consistency in direction and administration, reduce duplication between levels and sectors, improve the quality of consultation, promptly detect and handle violations, and contribute to building an honest and transparent administration. The Provincial Inspectorate has become the focal point for presiding over, guiding, inspecting, and urging inspection work, receiving citizens, and resolving complaints and denunciations across the province, thereby promoting its core role in controlling power and building an effective and efficient government.

Honored and proud of the glorious history of 80 years of the Vietnam Inspectorate, 62 years of the establishment of Son La Inspectorate, cadres and civil servants of Son La Inspectorate continue to inherit and promote the tradition of solidarity, regularly practice political qualities, ethics, lifestyle, constantly study to improve qualifications in all aspects, strive to excellently complete assigned tasks. Continue to improve the effectiveness of inspection activities, link inspection work with the detection and handling of negativity and corruption; actively and proactively coordinate to resolve people's concerns, protect the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of citizens, contribute to stabilizing the situation, enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of State management, promoting the cause of local socio-economic development, truly being the trust of Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the reliable support of the people.
