Why did Abbott Vietnam proactively withdraw 18 Product Declaration Acceptance Certificates?

(Dan Tri) - Recently, the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health) issued a document revoking the validity of the Certificate of Registration of Declaration for 18 health protection food products announced by Abbott Healthcare Vietnam.

These 18 products are all health protection foods related to enhancing brain circulation; improving liver function; enhancing resistance, reducing fatigue; supporting hair growth...

The recall was carried out at the request of the enterprise itself, based on Document No. AHVN23/RA-082 dated October 20, 2023 of Abbott Healthcare Vietnam Co., Ltd. regarding the withdrawal of documents related to health food products.

In the official dispatch requesting the revocation of the product declaration sent to the Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health on October 20, 2023, Abbott Healthcare Vietnam stated:

"We submit this official dispatch to respectfully request the Food Safety Department to consider and resolve the voluntary recall of product declaration papers for 18 health protection food products in Appendix I attached.

Reason for requesting voluntary withdrawal of product declaration: No production and business plan".

According to Abbott Healthcare Vietnam, the decision of the Food Safety Department to revoke the Product Registration Certificate is a procedure in state management activities, when a business requests to stop producing and trading that item in Vietnam. There are no quality or safety issues with these 18 health food products.

According to this request, from October 2023, the above health protection food products have stopped circulating on the market.

In recent days, the Food Safety Department has issued a decision to revoke the validity of the Certificate of Registration of Declaration and the validity of the Certificate of Confirmation of Advertising Content for many other food protection products.

According to the Food Safety Department, this recall decision is based on the voluntary request to withdraw and withdraw documents related to health protection food products of the registered units. There are companies that voluntarily requested to withdraw documents from 2023 and 2024, but only now have the recall decision.
