St. Stephen's Cathedral is the most important and tallest church in Austria. |
Ancient, romantic beauty
As the capital, largest city and one of the nine states of the Republic of Austria, Vienna is second to none in Europe in terms of its antiquity and splendor. Vienna is a combination of romance and nostalgia, it is the classical music capital of Europe and the birthplace of musical genius Mozart.
One of the interesting places in Vienna is Schonbrunn Palace, built in the 1600s. With an ancient Central European design, a large lake and a symbolic statue in front, Schonbrunn Palace also has a park right inside the campus, entering the park, visitors will feel like they are lost in a maze. Wonderful works of art such as the Neptune Fountain or the Roman Ruin stone statue help visitors immerse themselves in the campus when visiting.
The Hofburg Imperial Palace is also a frequent “check-in” location for tourists coming to Vienna. Built in the 13th century, it is a giant complex, operating mainly in winter for the rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire for hundreds of years.
In addition, visitors can also spend time visiting the most beautiful religious building in Austria, St. Stephen's Cathedral. This is also the tallest and most important church in Vienna, Austria because it possesses a unique architectural work designed in Roman and Gothic styles.
The church’s tower and main dome are intricately decorated with hundreds of colorful tiles arranged in beautiful patterns. Inside the church are a total of 18 altars, small chapels, and crypts. Visitors are not allowed to enter the crypts unless they are given permission by the priest in charge, but there are pictures of the inside of the crypts displayed outside to give visitors an idea of what it looks like inside.
Besides the ancient architecture, Vienna is also famous for its modern architecture such as the 252m high Danube Tower, which has an elevator to the cafe on top of the tower. In Vienna, coffee and cakes are very popular in coffee shops. Locals often call them public living rooms rather than cafes like in other places in the world . Visitors here only need to buy a cup of coffee to spend hours chatting with friends, relatives or reading newspapers, eating cakes without being bothered by waiters to order other dishes. This is considered one of the cultural beauties in Vienna.
A new emerging place is the unique “super crooked” architectural complex - Hundertwasser House designed by architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Many visitors will be dazzled by the many concave and convex blocks shown on the architecture of the houses. Curves and straight lines combine with each other and constantly change in color and scale. The climbing plants covering the walls of the house make the scene here more peaceful.
City of music
Musicians such as Mozart, Beethoven, Gluck, Haydn, Schubert and Johans Straus... all come from the same hometown, Vienna. That is why Vienna is considered the city of music, known as the music capital of the world, the heart of European classical music...
On the streets, visitors can always enjoy the wonderful, immortal music of Mozart or Beethoven performed by street artists. Entering cafes or bars, the musical atmosphere becomes more bustling, the melodious tunes constantly ringing in the ears. Music is always associated with the lives of people here.
There are also about 300 theaters and concert halls scattered throughout Vienna. The most famous of these is the Vienna State Opera, which is considered the “World Opera Center.” The Vienna State Opera is built in Roman style, with the front and side rooms built of marble, and the interior has pictures or paintings of great musicians and famous artists.
