This afternoon, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the press asked to inform about Vietnam's reaction to the recent incident in the territorial waters of Thi Tu Island in the Truong Sa archipelago between Chinese official ships and Philippine official ships.
Commenting on the above information, spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized: "Vietnam has full historical and legal basis to affirm Vietnam's clear and unequivocal sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago, including Thi Tu island."
Regarding the incident that occurred in the territorial waters of Thi Tu Island, the spokesman stated that Vietnam is extremely concerned about the public information provided by relevant parties.

Vietnam requests relevant parties to respect Vietnam's sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago, exercise restraint and act responsibly, and respect international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).
Vietnam also requested that all parties respect international regulations on maritime security and safety, including the rules for preventing collisions at sea issued by the International Maritime Organization.
Vietnam calls for creating a favorable atmosphere for negotiating an effective, substantive Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS, to contribute to maintaining peace , stability, security and safety in the East Sea and in the region.
