According to the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), up to now, in Vietnam, there have been 2 types of vaccines to prevent African swine fever that have been granted circulation certificates, including "NAVET-ASFVAC" by the Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company (NAVETCO) and "AVAC ASF LIVE" researched and produced by AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company.
Vietnam is also the first country to successfully research an African swine fever vaccine since June 2022 and begin to allow widespread circulation from July 2023 and is currently promoting vaccine export to a number of countries in the Southeast Asian region.
According to information from Dabaco Group, in the past 2 years, Dacovet Pharmaceutical and Veterinary Company Limited, a member of this group, has successfully researched and produced a vaccine to prevent African swine fever (attenuated freeze-dried type, named "DACOVAC-ASF2").
This vaccine has been tested on Dabaco's pigs and has been tested at the Central Veterinary Drug Testing Center I, with initial positive results. The test results show that the vaccine meets the standards of sterility, safety and protection effectiveness of 80-100% on the tested pigs. Currently, this vaccine has moved to the testing stage to register for circulation according to regulations.
If recognized and licensed for circulation, this will be Vietnam's third African swine fever vaccine.
